trekking shoes. The range was launched in 2017 and will be available in stores starting spring 2018. Additionally, Reverdia has showcased a wide range of succinic-based polyurethanes, including foams and 2K-elastomers, with bio-content as high as 60%.” Reverdia says that products to be expected in the future include new footwear made with Biosuccinium-based polyester polyols and bio- polyurethanes. “We are also looking into bio-based plastics packaging and compostable polymers,” adds Theunissen. “PBS derived from Biosuccinium could have applications in food packaging, containers, caps and closures. We will keep working in partnership with innovative companies that share our vision. In the future, Reverdia will further develop its existing partnerships, while finding new brands and new OEMs to co-develop tomorrow’s products.” NatureWorks is also active in providing new bioplastic materials for injection moulders. In late 2016, the company worked with Natur-Tec to introduce a jointly developed technology platform that lowered the cost of compostable serviceware while increasing its performance. The technology platform – formulations based on NatureWork’s

Ingeo biopolymer – produced heat resistant serviceware with rigidity approaching that of injection moulded polystyrene and higher tough- ness than either polypropylene or polystyrene cutlery. Following on from these performance developments in Ingeo, which is a polylactic acid (PLA)-based polymer, the company has continued to supply the injection moulding industry with 3D printing materials for rapid prototyping. “The market continues to innovate, and in the
