MATERIALS | STRETCH & SHRINK FILM
Right: Recycling pallet film is often ignored, as it accounts for less than 1% of a pallet’s weight
Similar trials in the US showed
similar results – and less die build-up.
Block solution Miruna Zala, market develop- ment manager at Kraton Polymers, told delegates how block copolymer solutions can be used for polyolefin modification in flexible film applications. Its C3000 range, for instance, can enhance LDPE film performance in several ways – including a 10-fold boost in stress crack resistance and a 1.2x improvement in impact strength. “A customer needs improved tear and impact
strength to avoid breakage in a flexible packaging solution – and that can be delivered with a 2% wt. C3000 combined with HDPE in a blown film,” she said.
In a second example, a customer wanted to use
more PCR content in a re-usable grocery bag – in which 1% C2000, 42% PCR HDPE and 25% virgin
HDPE and filler were dry-blended and extruded into pellets. This had a 9% higher PCR content than the previous product, but up to a 30% improvement in hysteresis and tear strength, plus better film flexibility and sealing. n The next Stretch & Shrink
Film event is held in Tampa, USA on 9-10 December 2025. For more details, contact Ange- lina Ruocco on +1 610 478 0800 (
