Flexible move Printed label specialist Drorys Packlist has expanded into flexible packaging – with help from Bobst – by adding a high-speed gravure press and multi-technology laminator. Drorys has bought a range of gravure and
flexo print technology from Bobst over the last decade. Its most recent acquisitions include an RS 6003 gravure press with nine print stations and a Novalam 800 laminator to help it move further into flexible packaging. The new machines join two Master M5 inline flexo presses used for label printing. “This latest investment is very exciting, as we embark on a new chapter in our company’s history,” said Gabriele Brocani, CEO of Drorys Packlist. As the market moves to more environmentally friendly products and manufacturing methods, Drorys also sought equipment that could help reduce its carbon footprint.
“Our new machines come with automated
features that help reduce waste, save time and lower the energy usage in everyday production,” he said. The RS 6003 gravure press creates around 30%
less material waste at start up compared to tradi- tional machines, says Bobst. Energy consumption is lower thanks to the dryer which has air nozzles on both sides for fast, even drying. The new Novalam 800 laminator is designed to accommodate a wide range of film substrates, including conventional materials and those optimised for recycling. To ensure peak machine performance, Drorys
purchased a maintenance package from Bobst, which includes remote service. In addition, India-based Mehta Flex recently installed its seventh Expert CI flexo press from. The company, which makes co-extruded flexible films, creates bespoke packaging for a variety of clients – for which its flexographic printing facility is critical. The machinery enables Mehta to produce a range of specialised effects such as vignettes, matte and gloss finishes, and secure prints. “Our association with Bobst dates to the 2000s, when we bought a Flexpress-16S,” said Vijay Mehta, co-owner of Mehta Flex. “We have since purchased seven more printing presses from Bobst.” Bobst says that the advanced automation capabilities of the Expert CI help to streamline large-scale print operations and reduce downtime. This enables Mehta Flex to refine production timelines and avoid potential disruptions.

Flexing innovation Comexi of Spain presented several innovations – including flexo, offset and digital printing – at the recent Print4All 2025 exhibition. One highlight was the F1 Evolution, Comexi’s most advanced central drum flexo press. Designed for high-speed production (up to 600m/min) and wide printing formats (up to 1690mm), the press has a high level of automation. A robotic sleeve and anilox change system ensure seamless transitions between jobs, while its GeniusTech system optimises print setup and allows energy- efficient drying and fast cleaning. “The F1 Evolution is a milestone in flexography,”
said Carles Rodríguez, printing director at Comexi. “Innovations such as Genius Board – which auto- matically optimises job changeovers – and Genius Run HD, which eliminates bouncing and barring, achieve exceptional results at high speeds.” Comexi also showcased an even broader offset CI model that addresses flexible packaging – while its new Color Closed Loop system ensures precise colour control without print marks. Comexi has also reinforced its presence in North
America. Its technical centre, which opened in early 2024, includes equipment such as a 10-colour flexographic printer, a solventless laminator and a dual-turret slitter. The company has also appointed two new sales staff: Joe Kubasiak as director of sales for North America, and Joe Tremper as eastern region area sales manager. Enric Carrera, CCO of Comexi, said: “With the addition of the Miami technical centre, and these key appointments, we are more committed than ever to providing exceptional service, innovation, and support to our North American customers.”
Flexo commissioning Rathna Packaging of India recently commissioned two Alphflex CI flexo presses from Windmoller & Holscher (W&H). The machines will be installed from mid-2025.
