The flexo presses offer high precision and quality production, as well as print stability and bounce-free printing even for difficult jobs at 400 m/min. Designed for printers of all scales, the Alphaflex is engineered to meet tough industry challenges, including cost pressures, productivity demands and sustainability goals. the presses include W&H’s fast, reliable and reproducible colour matching solution called Easy-Col. This is fully integrated with Alphaflex and gives guaran- teed color matching results. It is the newest addition to W&H’s CI flexo
portfolio, launched at Drupa 2024. The two new presses are among the first installations in India, says W&H – and also one of the largest. The new machines are also integrated with the Ruby IoT platform, which monitors data, to automate and improve packaging production. This investment is part of Rathna’s plans to scale its operations. “With this new technology, we are now prepared to deliver superior packaging solutions and continue our journey of growth,” said Sudhakar Reddy, managing director of Rathna Packaging. “With the right planning and practices, we wish to plan another big expansion soon.”
At Drupa 2024, W&H also presented a digital printing concept for flexible packaging. The concept machine – scheduled for launch in 2026 – will be “the first industrial-scale digital printing machine for industrial packaging printing”, it says. While digital printing is established in some
areas, such as labels, this is not the case for flexible packaging – because the quality requirements are high, the market is more cost-sensitive, and the substrates to be printed are increasingly diverse and demanding, says W&H. It says the new digital concept overcomes these
hurdles. It is based on a central-cylinder hybrid approach and offers unique application flexibility for industrial packaging printing, says the company. With its high register accuracy, the central cylinder at the heart of the press ensures that substrates such as PET, PP and PE can be printed accurately and with high quality. This is particularly important in the context of the flexible packaging industry’s strong focus on sustainability. The approach combines digital and flexographic
printing. Up to seven inkjet and four flexo printing units are arranged around a central cylinder to provide a range of applications and flexibility.
