Turnover (2017): Profile:

Leonding, Austria Wolfgang Lux 1955

Private (owned by Wietersdorfer) Around 370 €108m

Poloplast was founded by the Anger brothers in Linz, in 1954, as a producer of plastic pipes. It began making PVC pressure pipes the following year – which continues to this day. The company supplies pipe for building drainage, building ventilation, pipe ducting and water and waste water systems.

Product lines:

Polo-Kal building drainage pipes – available in a range of sizes – include the company’s Monotec socket technology, which is made in one piece from both hard and soft materials, making the seal an integral component. The pipes have been used, among other places, at Rapid Vienna’s football stadium. Other company brands include: Polo-Eco, which has variants for sewage pipe, storm water pipe and bridge drainage; a range of PP-R pipes for drinking water and air conditioning; and Polo-KWL for building ventilation.

Factory locations:

Poloplast’s products are made at its headquarters factory in Leonding, Austria and subsidiary facility in Ebenhofen, Germany. The company is in the process of investing €40m – €13m of it this year – at its Leonding headquarters: this should add 60 new jobs, and boost turnover to €200m by 2022, says the company. With help from machinery supplier KraussMaffei Berstorff, Poloplast recently developed a special concept for making five-layer glass-reinforced PP-R pipes.
