Other benefits include: an alternative to impro-
vised production aids such as copper blocks; simple correction of flow differences that are caused by wear and tear, or changes to the process or material; and faster start-up, by cooling critical sections of the profile. Primo, a manufacturer of swimming pool covers
made from PVC and polycarbonate, used Flow Control to enhance dimensional accuracy by controlling the relevant profile sections. “With certain profiles, Flow Control is indispen- sable to meet the high requirements imposed on profile geometries,” said Harald Möllenkamp, operations manager at Primo. “It drives down total profile costs through

At the same event, Greiner Extrusion said that its Flow Control technology improves polymer flow in extrusion dies by adjusting temperature between 20°C and 400°C. The temperature of various parts of a tool can be adjusted in order to balance flow, which can save on material costs by allowing wall thickness reduction.
“In one case, we reduced the wall thickness of 2.5mm by 0.05mm – a 2% saving,” said Wilhelm Dieterstorfer, key account manager at Greiner Extrusion.
considerable material savings, lower reject volume and shorter start-up times.” The company has also extended its offering in
co-extrusion – a key technology in window profile production – with a new technology called Layer Coex Plus. This die technology allows manufacturers to
incorporate up to 65% of recyclate as core material in a window profile – offering an 18% saving in costs compared to a product made from 100% virgin resin. Greiner says the process can cover coat up to
75% of the profile wall thickness – and also handle mixed regrind.

You want to produce different co-extruded pipes just with
one co-extrusion tool? To make more pipe structures – without rearranging extruders – with one pipe head. Than you need a new concept with adapter block technology.
