NEWS Sikora to become part of Maag

Global engineering manufacturer Dover has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sikora for €550m and will fold the measurement technology company into Dover’s Maag business. Demand for Sikora’s products continues to increase as the trend towards electrification accelerates, and it has notched double-digit organic growth over the last three years, generating around €100m in revenue in 2024. On completion, Sikora will become

part of Maag’s Pumps & Process Solutions segment, where it is expected to accelerate Maag’s capabilities in machine learning, industrial IoT, and AI-driven technologies. “Sikora represents a highly-strate- gic acquisition for Maag,” said Ueli Thuerig, Maag’s President. “The company’s products address similar customer needs to Maag’s products in resin-related markets, and its offerings provide Maag with increased expo- sure to highly-attractive market

PCR polycarbonates made from automotive waste

Covestro has introduced a new line of post-consumer recycled (PCR) polycarbon- ates made from end-of-life automotive headlamps, developed through a joint program initiated by the German federal enterprise GIZ, with Volkswagen and NIO as key partners. The TÜV Rheinland-certi-

fied grades contain 50% recycled content and are now commercially available, with Volkswagen and NIO said to already be validating the material for potential future use.

COMPOUNDING WORLD | May 2025 “This new line of polycar-

bonate represents a significant step in support- ing the automotive indus- try’s transformation towards a circular future,” said Lily Wang, Global Head of the Engineering Plastics Business Entity at Covestro. “By offering high-quality PCR materials derived from end-of-life headlamps, we’re enabling our customers to meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements while contributing to closed-loop recycling of automotive plastics.”

Under the initiative,

Covestro has been collabo- rating with partners, including Chinese recycler Ausell and leading au- tomakers, to establish closed-loop pathways from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs). The introduction of these new grades comes at a critical time as the automo- tive industry, one of the most resource-intensive sectors, faces increasing environmental challenges and regulatory pressures in the EU. www.covestro.com
