ing. The conical co-rotating ECO-Twin promotes a particularly gentle melting process, while providing highly effective melt degassing. “The ECO-Twin 220 is a true milestone,” said Stefan Lehner, Head of Product Management PCR. “The combination of low melt temperature, high degassing perfor- mance, and minimal energy consumption, makes it the ideal solution for demanding PET recycling.” A key feature of the ECO-Twin is its exceptionally low specific energy input, a decisive advantage in times of rising energy costs and increasing sustain- ability requirements. Meanwhile, the gentle process- ing of PET regrind ensures high material quality and minimised thermal stress. At the core of the machine is a robust gearbox based on Beveloid technology, ensuring smooth operation and long service life.

Outside the box Since autumn 2025,MAS Tech has expanded its portfolio to include complete recycling solutions under its iQonic Solutions umbrella. This strategic move reflects both changing market requirements and MAS Tech’s ambition to act as a full-system solution provider across the entire recycling process chain. Instead of conventional cutter-com- pactor technology, the company relies on the PreDensifier, an industrially proven pre-densifica- tion unit developed with Siempelkamp where material is pre-plasticised, dewatered, and ther- mally conditioned before extrusion. The energy introduced during pre-densification is transferred directly and efficiently into MAS Tech’s conical co-rotating twin-screw extruder which it says enables exceptional throughput, highly homoge- neous melts without gel formation, and significantly improved energy efficiency performance levels that are difficult to achieve with conventional systems. MAS Tech’s HyperPET is a pre-extrusion Solid State Polycondensation solution for demanding

PET recycling applications which combines infrared and vacuum technologies for cleaning and intrinsic viscosity (IV) enhancement directly via twin-screw extrusion and entirely without nitrogen. The result, according to the company, is excellent acetalde- hyde values, stable and homogeneous IV levels, and food-grade recyclate suitable for both bottle- to-bottle and sheet applications. Entek has developed a proprietary process for

converting difficult-to-handle filler powders, additives, and cellulose fibres into Highly Densified (HD) pellets by lightly binding them with a polymer. In this process, the twin-screw extruder operates as a high-shear mixing and coating system rather than a conventional compounding line, its function being to melt the binder and disperse the filler uniformly. As a result, the material does not behave like a traditional compound. Instead of flowing as a viscous melt, it exits the extruder as a powder or crumb. The polymer serves as a thin binding layer on the filler particles rather than as a carrier melt that encapsulates them. The resulting HD pellets offer significant advantages over raw powders and fibres, accord- ing to Entek. Their higher bulk density improves feeding consistency and throughput while reduc- ing shipping and storage costs, and dust and material loss are minimised, improving plant cleanliness and worker safety. The pellets disperse easily in downstream processing, and formulations can be tailored by adjusting the carrier polymer to meet performance requirements. AF-Color and Feddem, both Feddersen Group companies, recently undertook a targeted adapta- tion project in which key features of the FED 18 MTS laboratory extruder were transferred to the FED 26 MTS extruder. AF-Color is expanding development capacities for additive concentrates within the AF-Complex product family, as well as
