NH forage crop analysis

The ability to record and map grain protein content and other constituents while har- vesting is a new option for 2018 model year CR Revelation combines from New Holland. The near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRs) scan- ning and analysis technology is already available for forage crop analysis on FR self-propelled choppers. It is also being made available on the New Holland’s BigBal- er range, and there are plans to extend the facility to other agricultural equipment in fu- ture. Having immediate proof of the quality and nutritional value of harvested crops gives growers more marketing options and greater opportunity to pursue premium markets, says New Holland. Being able to map nutrient value allows fertiliser rates to be fine-tuned for subsequent crops. The NIRs technology is being sourced from Italian manufacturer Dinamica Generale. The collected data can be transferred to the farm’s office computer using a USB device or wirelessly by WiFi. Yearly calibrations can be carried out remotely over an internet connection.

PRODUCT SUMMARY Company: New Holland Name: Evo NIR Type: near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRs) crop scanning and analysis Key feature: provides real-time grain anal- yses for targeted storage and marketing options, and fertiliser rate management Info: www.newholland.com

Reichhardt connects Deere with Agco

The German-American company Reich- hardt has launched the Green Fit system. With this system John Deere automatic GPS steering system AutoTrac can also be used on other brands of tractors. John Deere says it was prohibited from getting direct access to competitors’ software to install AutoTrac. And with this piece of software they now have the link that would make AutoTrac universally usable. The software meets the standards of Deere. The system is to be launched on the tractor brands of Agco (Fendt and Challenger). Later on, AutoTrac also has to start running on the steering guidance sensors that Reichhardt makes itself. Reichhardt has been an important partner of John Deere for many years.

AFX-750 Isobus guidance display

The Trimble AFX-750 with its 10.1 inch (25.654cm) colour screen can be used as an Iso- bus Universal Terminal to communicate with compliant implements for set-up and control functions, and also as a guidance display that can measure and record such things as applica- tion rate and compare it with a user-defined target. The unit uses Trimble’s Field-IQ software on the Android operating system, which can communicate with implements without using the Isobus protocol, is compatible with Trimble farm management software, and also with the company’s Autopilot guidance systems for both hydraulic and electric installations. The AFX-750 package includes a NAV-900 guidance controller with the company’s most advanced triple-frequency multi-constellation GNSS receiver, to provide robust signal availa- bility, especially in hilly terrain. It uses GPS, Glonass, Galileo and BeiDou satellites togeth- er. Possible correction signals: CenterPoint RTK, CenterPoint VRS, Trimble RTX, and Euro- pean Space Agency SBAS. UK list price (AFX- 750, 1-year basic accuracy RangePoint RTX correction) is £3,495 (€4.000).
