Self-propelled crop sprayer
The Goldacres G4V Crop Cruiser has a hydro- mechanical transmission comprising of a vari- able displacement pump mounted on the 165 hp Cummins engine and a hydraulic mo- tor on the 2-speed transfer case. This set-up provides infinitely variable speed control and hydraulic ‘braking’, and permanent 4-wheel drive. It has shaft-driven portal axles featuring lockable differentials for maximum traction when conditions are slippery. Application technology includes pneumatic individual nozzle on/off control, pre-priming and through-flushing of the sprayline. A two-noz- zle option with automatic switching can be used to maintain consistent spray characteris- tics across a wide range of operating speeds. A 60-litre (15 gal) induction hopper is stand- ard. A venturi probe for transfers from large containers and the Micromatic sealed trans- fer system are also available. Inside the cab- in, operators can choose Raven’s SCS450 or SCS4400 controllers. The more advanced one is needed for the twin nozzle system and ultrasonic boom levelling. Isobus is also an option.

Robo-pilot guides row-crop tractor
The Robo-pilot from British manufacturer Garford Farm Machinery is an alternative to GNSS satellite-based guidance for trac- tors working in row crops. It links the high definition camera and image analysis soft- ware used with the company’s Robocrop weeding hoes to a tractor’s steering sys- tem. Mounted on the front, the camera views the crop ahead and image analysis identifies the centre of the crop row foli- age. This with a claimed accuracy of just 8mm (0.3in). This high-level accuracy makes hoeing and similar operations less tiring for the opera- tor and allows work to continue at night or in conditions of very poor visibility. UK prices start from £13,500 (€15.325) for a camera and mounting bracket, steering angle sensor and GPS speed sensor, plus a new control valve with auto cut out flow sensor to operate the tractor’s hydrostatic steering, or a steering wheel actuator. In the cab a Garford’s Robocrop 4-quick touch! console has capacity for up to six cameras in total.

Sulky-Burel extends Isobus to DX spreaders
Operators who like the one machine, one terminal concept of Isobus, can now set-up and control Sulky-Burel DX30 and DX30+ fer- tiliser spreaders using this technology. Just like the larger X series, the smaller DX can have Isobus when equipped with weighing and electrical operation of the hopper outlet shutters. The Isobus facility makes it possible for the spreader to be operated using Sulky’s Quartz 800 universal terminal or any built-in tractor display or third-party universal termi- nal listed as being compatible in the AEF ISOBUS online database. All functions, including GPS-related appli- cation rate adjustment, section shut-off and Sulky’s Stop&Go system, which assists at headlands and points in the field to min- imise double-dosing, are then accessible through a terminal display with a familiar common layout. The DX30 comes in four sizes from 900 to 2,700 litres (32 to 95 cu ft), the DX30+ with its heavier-duty frame and headstock, handles larger hoppers with capacities from 1,500 to 3,000 litres (53 to 106 cu ft).
