The “So, You Want to be a Transportation Supervisor” half-day seminar at STN EXPO West in Reno is presented by transportation professionals and industry veterans who share insights into effective leadership and how to build a team dedicated to growth and excellence. Thank you all! The information you all provided will definitely help in my everyday tasks as a supervisor. Appreciate you all sharing your wisdom and knowledge with us. Hope to see you all next year. Cyndi Telles, School Bus Supervisor at Star Shuttle LLC, Texas

The information from each of you will help many of us in our future even if we choose not to become a supervisor. Thank you again. Stefani Wright, Driver Instructor at West County Transportation Agency, California

Ryan Gray’s column in the July issue outlined a new industry win as the National Congress on School Transportation made history by approving recommendations for non–school bus vehicles. The new recommendations focus on strengthening standards around driver credentialing, child safety restraint system usage, vehicle inspection managing student behavior. Read the column at stnonline.com/go/nb.

Fantastic Editor’s Take in this month’s issue of STN. I love seeing the increased spotlight on the subject of alternative vehicles. Joshua Wilson, Director of Transportation at Specialized Education Services, Inc.

Episode 264 of the School Transportation Nation podcast featured an interview with Christopher Faust, transportation director for Sangamon Valley CUSD #9 in Illinois and a 2024 STN Rising SuperStar. He talked about his experience leading a new transportation department, facilitating teamwork, new technology improvements, and dealing with weather damage to the facility.
