February is Love the Bus Month, and STN is once again gathering stories of dedicated transportation staff from districts across the nation. Secure Future Solar retweeted a picture of Ontario school bus driver Matt Jackson of Sharp Bus Lines, who handcrafted a wooden school bus. This Valentine’s Day, we sent love to the dedicated faculty and staff of K-12 schools who love to educate kids, like this school bus driver just across the border in Canada, who clearly loves to drive. Twitter/@secfuturesolar

Associate Editor Taylor Hannon went to Thousand Oaks, California to meet with Anthony Miller, a retired Maryland transportation director who worked against segregation in his department. Go to @STNMagazine on Instagram to watch video content from the visit. Read the article about Miller’ at stnonline.com/go/au.

[I] love Tony. Can’t wait to read the article. Instagram/pamriver (aka Pam McDonald, the 2021 recipient of the Peter J. Grandolfo Award)

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a plan to expand the availability of road tests for commercial driver license applicants and allow third-party examiners to administer them. The goal is to reduce the time it takes to get qualified CDL drivers on the road by creating more testing locations statewide and expanding capacity at existing state-run sites. Read the article at stnonline.com/go/b4.

DMV already made adjustment for CDL drivers by being available. Changing the test isn’t going to bring more people in. The entire process needs to be looked at again by those of us in the field. Not the ones behind a desk. No disrespect intended to those behind the desk that have done the time. Our environment has changed tremendously in four short years. Facebook/ Marie Mark Noeth
