build and distribute electric zero-emission buses. The buses are expected to reach customers starting in Q2 2019 and a large number are scheduled for delivery. Thomas Built Buses recognized its Dealers of the Year
for 2018 at its annual President’s Club awards gala in April. The national Dealer of the Year award was present- ed to Mathews Bus Alliance, Inc.
Roger Nielson, the president and CEO of Daimler
Trucks North America, declared that battery-electric vehicles are the solution to achieving emissions-free commercial transportation in North America, at the ACT Expo in Long Beach, California. Allison Transmission Holdings, Inc., announced at
ACT Expo O that it bought Vantage Power and AxleTech’s electric vehicle systems division. Allison also unveiled its new AXE Series, a fully integrated electric powertrain system designed to fit in side the standard frame along the axles of commercial trucks and buses. Meanwhile at ACT Expo, Meritor displayed its new,
complete electric drive system that is currently powering a Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2. The school bus is being tested in Escondido, California, near San Diego.
