Boating Safety
Our collaboration with industry partners including the MCA, MAIB and RNLI saw us once again play a leading role in the development of boating safety education and solutions, particularly in relation to back to boating advice following lockdown restrictions.
Our series of joint safety videos in collaboration with the RNLI highlighted the importance of planning for all eventualities, getting properly trained and always having a method of keeping in touch. We also delivered a number of PWC safety initiatives working in partnership with the Personal Watercraft Partnership, British Marine, UK Harbour Authorities and British Ports Association.

Our response to the Department for Transport’s consultation on the disposal of pyrotechnic fl ares highlighted our long-standing view that the compulsory carriage of fl ares on recreational boats is outdated and that boaters have a right to choose more modern, affordable and reliable alternatives.
We have also raised awareness of a number of lessons learned as a result of MAIB investigations over the last year.
