THE 48TH ANNUAL Chicago Pride Parade is the culmination of a month of rainbow-flavored celebrations of the LGBTQ community. From stroller- friendly street fests to athletic events to storytelling soirees, June is bursting with Chicago Pride. We’ve rounded up some of the most fabulous festivities.


You’re Being Ridiculous This live lit show featuring people

DISCOVER! Time Out Chicago June 7–September 5, 2017 Andersonville


Midsommarfest Get ready to dance around the Maypole at Andersonville’s annual celebration of its Swedish heritage. The LGBTQ-friendly event showcases international performers, Nordic cuisine and an array of family activities.  Clark St and Foster Ave (andersonville .org/events/midsommarfest). Chicago Pride Fest Prep for the Pride Parade with


Chicago’s LGBTQ community at this street soiree, with musical entertainment and food and drinks from local vendors.  Halsted and Addison Sts (northalsted .com/events/chicago-pride-fest). June 17, 18; suggested donation $10.


Back Lot Bash This annual festival boasts


comics and rockers with serious sapphic appeal. Lineups weren’t yet announced at press time, but they’re bound to be good.  Lot behind Cheetah Gym Andersonville, 5238 N Clark St  $20–$100.


Gaywatch GayCo, Chicago’s seminal


LGBTQ sketch-comedy troupe, splashes back with a beach- ready new Boystown show for Pride weekend.  Playground Theater, 3209 N Halsted St (gayco.com). June 23, 24 at 10:30pm; $15.


Pride Bowl X The Chicago Metropolitan


Sports Association’s 10th annual Pride-weekend flag football tournament hosts dozens of teams from across the country that compete for top honors.  Montrose Lakeside Fields, Montrose Ave and Lake Shore Dr (pridebowlchicago.com). June 23, 24 8am–5pm; free to attend.


Chicago Dyke March The fierce and festive celebration


of community activism and queer solidarity takes place in Humboldt Park for a fourth year.  1400 N Sacramento Ave
