Lemieux Announced As Partner And Preferred Supplier To The Canadian Eventing Team

Toronto, ON – April 22, 2024 – Equestrian Canada (EC) is proud to announce an exciting partnership with LeMieux, a renowned brand recognized for its exceptional technical horse and rider wear, with a keen eye for style. As a preferred supplier and part- ner of the Canadian Eventing Team, LeMieux’s commitment underscores its dedication to support- ing high-performance equestrian athletes. Former Olympic and World Championship

level eventer, Robert Lemieux, the driving force behind this partnership, brings invaluable insight and experience to the table. Having represented Canada as a member of the Eventing Team at the 1994 World Equestrian Games in Den Haag, Robert understands the demands of elite competi- tion. This new partnership symbolizes his confi- dence in the High Performance Advisory Group (HPAG) Eventing and their contributions to the team’s success, including winning a team gold medal and securing an Olympic qualification at the 2023 Pan American Games in Chile. “Robert is part of Team Canada, and this part-

nership is a reflection of that,” said Emily Gilbert, Chair of the HPAG. “We are so grateful for his gen- uine enthusiasm, insights and Lemieux’s creative support as we continue on this trajectory to build a strong high performance program for Eventing in Canada.” LeMieux has committed to sponsoring the

Canadian Eventing Team as they prepare for the upcoming Paris Games alongside providing team kit to all Eventing National Team Program athletes including the newly established U25 development squad. Additionally, LeMieux has launched the “iCAN” line of products, available exclusively at Greenhawk, with product in stores and select items also available online. Ten percent of all sales from this line will be donated to the Eventing High Per- formance Program, further bolstering support for the team in their pursuit of Paris. Gilbert commented on the iCan products,

“This line was developed and designed by HPAG members, including Chef D’Equipe Rebecca Howard and Athlete representative, Mike Winter to align with the HPAGs forward thinking and team- driven approach. It has been aptly named the iCAN line as a reflection of that.”

“We are excited about this partnership with

LeMieux,” said James Hood, Director, High Per- formance at EC. “Their commitment to quality and innovation aligns perfectly with our mission to sup- port Canadian equestrian athletes at every level. This partnership signifies the momentum that is being built in our eventing program, and we are ex- cited about the opportunities it presents.” Commenting on the collaboration, Robert

Lemieux stated, “At LeMieux, we have always been passionate about supporting equestrian ath- letes and their aspirations. As a former Canadian team member, I am so proud the brand can support the Canadian Eventing Team as they get closer to the summer games.” The partnership with LeMieux reflects the

HPAG’s and EC’s ongoing efforts to provide world-class support to its athletes, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to excel on the international stage. For more information about LeMieux’s

Breathwork 4 Equestrians With Holly Barnett, REMT, CSF

it, notice their breath- ing pattern as well. When you’re fully present, you notice subtle signs of con-

Breath Awareness Last issue I prompted you

to connect to your breath in the saddle. This time I invite you to practice on the ground before you ride. Connecting to your breath

automatically brings your aware- ness to the present moment, something your horse will likely notice and appreciate. When you’re with someone but their mind is elsewhere or they’re on their phone, you can sense the disconnect – horses are no differ- ent.

Next time you’re at the

barn try noticing your breathing pattern while you’re grooming and tacking up. While you’re at

nection from them (that you may have otherwise missed) while falling into a half pres- ent routine or allowing your mind to wander as you go through the motions. The more you practice

this, the more your horse no- tices. I’ve worked with hun- dreds of riders on this, and the feedback is always how much they notice their rela- tionship with their horse continues to improve. You may also find it relaxing which is a bonus before you ride!

Breathwork doesn’t

have to be intense or compli- cated, it can start with some- thing as simple as awareness. A cascade of benefits unfolds the more you befriend your breath. Simple breath checks such as ‘how am I breathing in this mo- ment, what’s my natural breath- ing pattern’ are the perfect place to begin. If you’re looking for more, you’re welcome to try out Intero Breath for Equestrians – just send me a message for an in- vite as a thank you for reading.
