Andy has over 35 years experience in the paper industry working for Holder Pamac, Fort Sterling, Beloit Walmsley, Proctor and Gamble and Essity (formerly SCA) on many projects and in various roles. He has had experience in E & I project management on major green field sites and on smaller rebuilds and has worked on a wide range of electrical, instrumentation and control systems from design through to installation supervision and commissioning. Latterly he worked for Essity for 10 years and has been involved in process upgrade projects on machines at Manchester, Oakenholt, Chesterfield and Tawd mills. Both Ian and Andy have brought with them a wide range of experience and skills and despite only joining us at the beginning of June 2019 they have already become an important part of the engineering team at Poole Projects. The depth of experience they bring with them is already proving to be invaluable. Mark Bristow is the new Picon
Chairman
Mark Bristow, Managing Director of Friedheim International, has been elected chairman of Picon, the organisation for UK printing industry manufacturers and suppliers. He succeeds Gerard Heanue, recently retired managing director of Heidelberg UK.
“Gerard provided a positive focus on maintaining and developing member benefit initiatives,” said Mark Bristow. “I have three key aims during my two years in office. The first is to maintain and develop the training initiatives and grant systems for members. I also hope to develop the business support opportunities we offer members and, thirdly, encourage greater co-operation with other print and business
organisations to improve the impact we have on Government.”

Key events during Mark’s tenure will be two Global Print meetings and Drupa. Global Print meetings took place at Print19 in Chicago this October and will also take place at Drupa in 2020. At these meetings countries come together to review developments and the market.
Picon has also announced the appointment of George Clarke as company secretary & financial controller, succeeding Andrew Hamilton who has retired. Former Heidelberg MD, Gerard Heanue, is to chair Picon’s finance committee.
