Inspire
primary EAST ARDSLEY PRIMARY ACADEMY Library learners
CHILDREN in Key Stage 2 from East Ardsley Primary Academy visited the local library this half term. The children found out about how the library works and got books to bring back to school. They chose books based on their topic in school so they could find out the answers to their questions. We’re focusing on developing our love of reading and finding out what books we enjoy most. This helps us to make good choices so that we all become great readers.
HILL TOP PRIMARY ACADEMY All around the world
CHILDREN at Hill Top Primary Academy travelled to different countries on our ‘All Around the World’ day. Children learnt new languages, tried new food and learnt about the differing cultures. The whole day was spent exploring a different country and sharing their new knowledge.
Children in Reception visited Italy and learnt how to make their own pizza, Year 4 travelled to Zimbabwe and tried ‘Sadza’, while Year 6 travelled to Brazil and became musicians by creating and performing Samba rhythms.
WESTERTON PRIMARY ACADEMY
Online safety
THIS term, our pupils took part in a new video awareness campaign with West Yorkshire Police. The new campaign is aimed at parents, carers and professionals who come into contact with children and young people. The objective is to inform and educate the adults, so they feel confident talking to young people about what they are doing online. Please see the following link to the campaign www.westyorkshire.
police.uk/conversation. We are very proud of the pupils who participated.
BLACKGATES PRIMARY ACADEMY
Leeds United at Blackgates
OVER the last half term, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 6 have all worked with the Leeds United Foundation around some key issues facing our community. Our Year 6 cohort took part in a half-day workshop focused on healthy relationships and how to establish a positive relationship. It focused on friendships and how peer pressure can impact our decision-making. Year 1 and Year 4 focused on healthy lifestyles, with a key focus on how to maintain a healthy body. Year 4 were lucky enough to go on a visit to Elland Road. They made healthy wraps and were able to discuss how frequent exercise helps to establish a healthy body.
