Inspir 5e Pocket park
IN the summer, Geography students from Years 10 & 12 took part in the Growing Talent Morley Pocket Park Project, visiting potential sites and developing their ideas to produce models of their work.
Sustainability was the key theme running throughout the project, and the students were then able to present their ideas to professionals at the national UKREiiF conference. The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, judged the projects and was very complimentary of the finished projects, expressing her delight for the fantastic design and intuitive features of the proposed pocket parks.
Invaluable insight
YEAR 11 Textile students recently had an exciting opportunity to visit Harrison Spinks’ farm and factory to see their sustainable farming and manufacturing processes.
Pupils had first-hand experience seeing the full production of raw hemp, from being grown to being transported to be processed into mattresses. Students visited a wide range of departments on the day and had the opportunity to speak with staff from the design team to the weaving machinists. This gave them an insight into the variety of careers available within the textile industry. The research from the day also helped them further develop their GCSE NEA coursework.
