SHOPPING CENTRES & RETAIL OUTLETS STEP ON IT
When designers were looking for a stylish, speedy and wearable tiling solution for a new Footsas Architectural Tiles’ urban-inspired Diesel Grunge collec
Since its inception in 2005, Footasylum has made a name for itself as one of the leading retailers of fashion streetwear and sportswear in the UK with over 65 high- street stores now in operation. Recognised for the unique and modern designs of its stores, it was of high importance that its new launch in Westfield Stratford City held up this reputation.
When project designer Start Design was tasked with designing the interior of the new shop, it was keen to create a concept store with a deeper connection to local communities. In order to meet the brief both practically and aesthetically, Start Design chose and approved CTD Architectural’s Diesel Grunge collection for the tiles.
With full trust in the CTD Architectural team to adapt to the logistical and access demands of supplying one of the country’s largest shopping centres, deliveries of precise quantities to dedicated time slots were arranged, leveraging the operational scale of the CTD Group to address the logistical issues without any burden to the customer.

Working closely with Nottingham’s Practical Minds Shopfitters, CTD Architectural Tiles supplied two colourways from the contemporary Diesel Grunge Concrete tile range. Meeting the brief to achieve a modern industrial look and feel, the specified products replicate the look of poured concrete, complete with lines, notches and crack detailing. The Black and Iron Natural colourways created a refined industrial look for the store whilst also offering durability, a necessity for the extremely high traffic and demands of footfall.
Part of the Diesel Living branded range, Grunge Concrete offers the specifiers ultra-realistic urban cement in a practical and easy-to-maintain porcelain finish. The collection is an exclusive floor and wall tile collection with an urban and industrial style designed for today’s contemporary spaces. These ten new ranges explore various moods with aged fabrics and colourways, whilst interpreting an urban-grunge style in-keeping with the hard rock aesthetic of the brand.
