ALTERNATIVE FLOORING LAUNCHES ONLINE

VISUALISER TOOL Alternative Flooring has launched a new online visualiser, allowing homeowners to see its products in their own interior space.

In just four simple steps, the Show Me My Room tool enables customers to see how a small sample or a lifestyle image in the brochure can transform into their own dream room.

Kirsty Barton, Digital Marketing Manager at Alternative Flooring, said: “We are starting to see augmented reality being used in all industry, but especially interiors, to help consumers get a feel for what paints, fabrics, furniture and now carpets will look like in their homes.

“It can be difficult to imagine what the bolder striped and patterned carpets will look like in a larger scale from the samples. This is why we decided that we wanted to explore a way of using current technology and adapting it to create a branded visualisation tool that would be accessible to everyone and, most importantly, very easy to use.”

AXMINSTER CARPETS SAVED FROM ADMINISTRATION

After falling into administration in February, Axminster Carpets has now been bought out by a group of investors.

The royal warrant holder was bought by ACL Carpets, which will change its name to Axminster Carpets in the near future, administrators confirmed.

The company, which is over 250 years old, had built up debts of almost £8m when it was taken over by administrators Duff & Phelps in February of this year. However, the company is now said to be debt free.

BUYING GROUPS’ NATIONAL FLOORING SHOW 2020 CANCELLED

The annual event, which was due to take place at Cranmore Park, Solihull, in May, will return for 2021 instead.

The Dutfield family, which owned the Axminster Carpets until 2016, is part of the group of investors.

Under the new ownership, the company will continue to operate from its head office and manufacturing facility in Axminster.

Joint administrator Benjamin Wiles, of Duff & Phelps, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to announce today that we have secured the future of Axminster Carpets, one of the best- known British brands, following the successful sale of the business and assets of the company.”

A statement from the show read: “Due to the latest advice regarding Coronavirus, we would like to advise that the Buying Groups’ National Flooring Show 2020 is now cancelled.

“We would like to take this opportunity to wish you, all of your staff and their families all the very best during this difficult time.”

Dates for the 2021 event are yet to be confirmed.
