Refresh the Trusty Carpet

FLOOR FINISHES & AFTERCARE FOCUS ON Comforting and Stylish

In new builds and refurbishments, hardly any living areas are fully carpeted today. Carpets are only really popular in rooms where floors need to be warm and soft, most commonly children's rooms. Carpet tiles are very popular as they can be laid to create individual patterns, e.g. a chessboard look. Moreover, games such as hopscotch can be created on floors as if by magic. Colourful tiles make rooms look bright and cheerful.

In addition, carpets also serve as soft islands on hard floors in living rooms, bedrooms or children's rooms. The natural feel also plays an important role here: fluffy, high-pile rugs resembling soft grass or coarsely woven natural materials such as jute or cotton are also popular. However synthetic fibres, which are long-lasting and resistant to moisture, are easier to care for. Stubborn stains can be removed with a spray extraction cleaner such as Kärcher’s Puzzi 400. The manufacturer's directions should always be followed for carpet care and detergents should initially be tested on an inconspicuous area. Coarse dirt can be removed from all types of textile floorcoverings with a vacuum cleaner.

Living areas, as well as areas exposed to splashing water, which once looked sterile are now being given a warm and attractive look using natural colours. Where stylish grey natural stone or slate designs were once a tile trend, wood-look is now used on floors and walls in bathrooms and kitchens. Modern tiles that look like floorboards can transform bathrooms into a relaxed wellness oasis and give kitchens a rustic and homely flair. A further advantage is the large rectangular shape of the floor panels: there are fewer joints that require cleaning.

When treating stubborn lime stains on tiled floors, the joints should be wetted beforehand and cleaned with citric acid, as it is less aggressive than acetic acid. All in all, large tiles are easier to clean quickly with a vacuum cleaner or floor cleaner from Kärcher.
