Combining intricate designs on the wall and floor can also work if close consideration is given to certain elements. In the project shown here, real wood flooring from Ted Todd’s Parquetry collection was used as part of a home renovation. The beauty of the Versailles pattern is the versatility it offers, being able to slide into the background of a room, or create a statement. I think it’s fair to say that it does both in this instance and colour plays a key part here. The deep colour of the wallpaper makes its pattern more subtle, pairing perfectly with the tones of the parquet floor.

Although wood flooring lends itself well to a traditional or country-style theme, it can also be used to create an urban-inspired effect. Taking it to the dark side, the Ollerton herringbone planks from Ted Todd blend perfectly with the concrete-effect walls to achieve an industrial aesthetic.
