Hello and welcome to the September/October issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.
Mark Hazelwood, Director and Co-founder of Clenetix, once spoke to me about how: “Historically, the pervading view of cleaning is that it is a low skilled, non-core service, leaving it at the mercy of procurement teams’ cost-cutting efforts. This view could not be more incorrect. But we have seen how, since early last year, the industry is increasingly being viewed as mission-critical and demonstrating its value in a way that feels unprecedented.”
Over the past 18 months, cleaning has gone from what some would describe as an ‘invisible service’ to one that now dominates the health and safety debate. In this issue, we take a deep dive into this sector, with the CHSA suggesting that the challenge for buyers is to differentiate between the unscrupulous, but apparently credible, companies and those trading ethically when it comes to procuring cleaning and hygiene products.
Emergency Evacuations and Protective Clothing & Workwear also take the spotlight in this issue, with Dan Harding, CEO of Sign In App, analysing the importance of ensuring efficient and reliable roll calls, in the former, and SATRA providing the lowdown on what to look out for when searching for quality PPE, in the latter.
