HEAVY DUTY COMPOSITE
ACCESS COVERS Fibrelite
Over the last two years, a staggering 4.5 million working days were lost to workplace injuries. A fifth of these were caused by manual handling. One common activity that contributes to this, posing a high risk of manual handling injuries is the removal and replacement of heavy concrete and metal manhole and trench covers.
Fibrelite are using composites to create access covers that eliminate manual handling issues. Composites effectively shed weight whilst retaining mechanical properties. This means that a composite cover with the same load rating as a concrete or metal cover will weigh far less.
Fibrelite covers weigh in at approximately one-third of traditional alternatives, giving them the best strength-to-weight ratio in the industry. Fibrelite is in fact the only company to successfully engineer and manufacture composite covers with load ratings over 40 tonnes (D400). In 2016 the range was extended all the way up to 90 tonne (F900) load ratings for airports and ports.
Whilst the lightweight and corrosion-free properties of composites go a long way towards decreasing manual handling injuries, Fibrelite wants to eliminate them altogether. Stooping was identified as an additional cause of injury. To solve this, an ergonomically-designed lifting handle was created, to allow users to safely remove and replace the covers keeping the load close to the waist, to avoid stooping or bending their back.

The IntelliCare hand care system from Diversey helps facilities to improve infection prevention and hand hygiene compliance. Its unique wall-mounted dispenser is the industry’s first automatic hybrid design with touchless and manual activation.
With hand washing the most effective way to prevent the spread of infections, the dispenser helps maintain uninterrupted availability of soaps and foams for maximum hand hygiene compliance. Typically configured for touchless operation, it seamlessly shifts to manual mode if battery power is lost.
IntelliCare dispensers are used with globally-trusted hand care formulations in the Soft Care and SURE ranges. Soft Care comprises a complete set of soaps, sanitisers and creams meeting a wide range of international infection prevention standards. Customers wanting to demonstrate the very highest levels of environmental responsibility can select hand washes and sanitisers from the 100% plant-based, 100% biodegradable SURE range.
Products are supplied in 1.3 litre pouches containing more doses than conventional systems to extend intervals between replacement. Standard-sized pouches for all products support total flexibility to choose, and change the right formulation for specific requirements. Their tamper-proof design utilises less plastics per millilitre of product than alternatives. All materials are fully-recyclable.
Low product content and battery alerts warn cleaning teams that replacements are required. The batteries should last for approximately 90,000 doses or 18 months. The system’s dual dosing capability provides flexibility to optimise hygiene compliance and cost control.
The jewel in the crown for IntelliCare is its ability to connect to Diversey’s Internet of Clean cloud-based monitoring system.
