TURNING 25: AN INTERVIEW WITH THE CEO
To mark it's silver anniversary, we sat down with Amthal’s CEO Jamie Allam to reflect on the journey so far, what has shaped the business and how it continues to adapt to demands of commercial security technology and life safety.
Managing commercial buildings means balancing safety, compliance, and costs. Over the past 25 years, Amthal has partnered FMs facing these pressures, evolving from a small local security company into a trusted national partner. Here’s what Jamie Allam, CEO, had to say about the past, present and future.
Q: When you look back over the past 25 years, what moments stand out
most for you? Co-founders and friends Paul Rosenthal and John Allam started Amthal in 2000 as a small, local security business. When I joined in 2008, we were still very much a hands-on operation but already expanding into commercial projects.
Securing our first industry approvals was a huge opportunity. It gave us credibility to win more complex work and showed how we could consistently meet the highest standards and guarantee compliance.

Another defining step was expanding beyond security into life safety. That shift enabled us to support our clients in a more holistic way and respond to the increasing demands of compliance and resilience in commercial property.
Q: How has the company’s purpose
changed since those early days? In the early years our focus was on residential security systems, but we evolved into commercial projects, to deliver integrated solutions across a wide range of sectors, from offices and retail through to education, healthcare, and public buildings.
Our purpose has expanded to protecting people and property through every stage of the process, from design and specification to installation, ongoing maintenance, and monitoring. Facilities managers partner with us to support regulatory requirements, keep sites operational and give building users confidence that they have total protection.
