SOLID FOUNDATIONS FOR THE COLD


This month, Tomorrow’s FM sat down with Scott Saunders, Technical Services Manager at Watco, to discuss how the company is supporting the facilities management industry and how FMs can keep on top of repairs and maintenance throughout the winter season.


Q: Scott, tell us about yourself and


your role at Watco I joined Watco in 2011 and have been in a technical role for the past fourteen years. I joined the company because I’ve always been passionate about problem-solving and getting my head into technical details. My role has evolved over my time at Watco. Having supported so many different customers over the years, on challenges concerning the full range of a facility’s surfaces, literally from top to bottom, inside and out, I am very well placed to ensure our technical experts have the most comprehensive knowledge to be a true problem-solver.


Q: With fourteen years at the company, you’ll be very qualified to answer our next question! What is it


that Watco offers the FM industry? Watco is the UK’s leading manufacturer and direct supplier of industrial floor coatings and repair products but in terms of what we offer, it’s much more than that.


We partner with our customers before, during and after the maintenance work has been completed, using our experience and technical knowledge to ensure the best solutions for each facility’s unique requirements. Being on hand at each stage is so important because many of our customers are not flooring experts - and so we’re there to provide continual advice and to check-in to ensure all jobs go well.


We have almost 100 years of industry experience, and our team of technical experts work with customers as their problem-solving partner whilst keeping on top of new

challenges and trends. This gives us a great opportunity to identify new, specialist products that meet our customers’ needs (e.g. cold cure, fast drying or low VOC formulas). Our in-house chemists then research, develop and formulate products to make them available.

Q: How can facilities managers get support from Watco? Is it best


to call? We know that each year, the FM role is getting busier and more challenging so the last thing we want to do is limit the support available to the sector. But of course, our team is always ready to help and we’re at the end of the phone line to provide customised advice.
