(https://www.wates.co.uk/wates-innovation-network/) MSL launches new SDS subscription service

To help chemical manufacturers and suppliers stay compliant and ease the pressures of compiling Safety Data Sheets (SDS), leading microbiological testing firm MSL Solution Providers is delighted to launch a new SDS subscription service.

Safety Data Sheets are essential for chemical products but require technical expertise and can be time-consuming to prepare. Furthermore, they need reviewing regularly to ensure that they meet changing regulations.

MSL’s new SDS subscription service enables companies to outsource the responsibility of maintaining these essential documents to its in-house specialist SDS team, headed up by expert Daniel Sands. The package includes alerts and notifications of upcoming changes, consultancy, an annual review to ensure they remain up to date, and a limited number of revisions, as applicable.

In addition, MSL can expertly author a new an SDS in different languages and complete Poison Centre Notifications. Clients have the option to include a company logo if desired and usually receive their completed SDS within two weeks, from receipt of data.

Carolyn Burney, MD at MSL Solution Providers, commented: “We know that preparing an SDS can be a headache for companies to prepare themselves. Our SDS offer enables customers to lighten their load by outsourcing the compilation of these essential documents to our specialist team – saving them time and offering reassurance that their completed SDS is technically accurate.

“We are proud to extend our SDS service to include year-round support, helping to ensure that our clients stay compliant with regulations that are constantly being reviewed.”

SDS provide information on chemical products, describing the hazards that the chemical presents, as well as giving

information on handling, storage and emergency measures in case of accident.

A complete service provider, MSL offers an integrated regulatory and laboratory testing service for both biocidal and cosmetic industries, helping companies stay compliant with current regulations. As well as SDS, its expertise includes claim support for the BPR (Biocidal Product Regulation), claims substantiation, auditing, disinfectant testing, cleanroom validation (UV and airborne disinfection), and user trials. The company also offers tailored solutions for specific testing needs, enabling them to support clients’ individual requirements.

Its in-house accredited microbiology and virology labs provide a comprehensive range of standard tests, including efficacy testing against bacteria, fungi, spores, viruses, mycobacteria, legionella, and algae. The majority of its biocides testing, including virology testing, is accredited by UKAS 4045 to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.

Members of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) and others in the cleaning industry now have access to straightforward information on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), thanks to a new Fact Sheet published by the CHSA.

EPR came into effect earlier this year. It means that producers of packaging that gets disposed of in the home setting are responsible for the cost of the recycling of the packaging once the product has been consumed.

Its purpose is to encourage a circular economy in which resources are used for as long as possible. It is intended that it will deter the use of difficult to recycle packaging and promote reusable packaging, while also funding the full recovery costs for packaging waste that is collected from local authorities.

18 | WHAT’S NEW?

The Fact Sheet, produced by CHSA members for CHSA members, indicates the organisations affected by EPR for Packaging and how organisations are classified. It also informs members of the action they will need to take now in order to comply.

The Fact Sheet is available on the CHSA website. www.chsa.co.uk
