The winner takes it all

With entries due to close this month for the European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards 2019, founder and ECJ editor Michelle Marshall reveals why you can’t afford not to enter, and why the celebrations live on beyond the awards evening.

The European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards are all about celebrating success and rewarding excellence. Each year we receive hundreds of entries from companies that are really making their mark in the professional cleaning industry. My fellow judges and I are always faced with the difficult task of narrowing down to the finalists.

And then comes the awards evening. This is a big night in the cleaning and hygiene sector’s calendar. The great and the good gather and we celebrate achievements around innovation, diversity and sustainability.

It’s a fantastic evening for everyone involved, but the spotlight really is on our winners. We get to tell their story and share their outstanding efforts with our esteemed guests. It’s a great profiling opportunity for our winners, and they get to go home with a coveted accolade under their belt. But when the stage lights have faded and the afterparty ends, what does it mean to be a winner? What impact does a European Cleaning & Hygiene Award really have on the business?

For me, it’s an industry stamp of approval. Our judging panel is made up of some of the most respected people in the industry and their endorsement has impact. In my view, the awards are also a way for businesses to give something back to their dedicated teams. After all, people are our most valuable asset so recognising their hard work and commitment on such a public platform is extremely powerful. It’s a real morale booster.

Our winners are proud of their achievements and the impact of their win, and their celebrations live on for much longer than one glitzy, autumn awards ceremony. Our winners are using their success to position themselves above competitors, to stand out against the crowd and confidently say ‘we are leaders in our field’.

Take Insider Facility Services, one of our 2018 winners; they are so proud of their award, they created European Cleaning & Hygiene ‘winner’ stickers for their fleet of vehicles. Now every time they hit the road, they’re sharing their success with the world.

We know there is fantastic work taking place across our industry, and of course it’s not just restricted to our winners. But putting yourself and your business out there, and sharing your success, is vital. Not only to boost business profile and team morale, but to inspire others across the industry.

The European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards 2019 will take place on 17 October at The Church House, London, followed by an afterparty. The entry form can be found on the website below and entries should be submitted by 24 June 2019.
