10 QUESTIONS WITH... SAM TREGIDGO

Each month we ask a cleaning industry professional the Tomorrow’s Cleaning 10 Questions. This month, we chatted to Sam Tregidgo, Operations Administrator Apprentice at Facilicom Cleaning Services.

HOW WOULD YOU IMPROVE THE CLEANING INDUSTRY?

It is still early days in the industry for me, but I know at Facilicom we really concentrate on our customers. Although I don’t deal directly with them, I think that support roles, such as mine, benefit the business greatly as we help with everyone’s needs. For example, we are able to respond quickly when a manager or someone is querying something.

I think roles like mine improve the cleaning industry as we deal with the purchase orders ensuring managers get the products and equipment they need, and can focus on our customers instead.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO DO AN APPRENTICESHIP?

I chose to do an apprenticeship because I wanted to get an experience of what it is like working in an office and interacting with new people. I also wanted to know what it is like having an income each month, while learning in a business.

2

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE CLEANING INDUSTRY?

My college offered me a chance to send my CV in reply to an apprenticeship advert, then they told me that I had an interview with Facilicom. I went to the interview and a couple of days later they informed me that I’d got the job in business admin, which was great.

WHICH THREE WORDS DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY? Creative, happy and helpful.

IF YOU COULD VISIT ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD

WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN

AS AN APPRENTICE? There are always plenty of people willing to offer advice if I need it, but the best advice for me has been to always be happy and helpful to everyone.

7

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY TOMORROW, HOW WOULD

YOU SPEND YOUR FORTUNE? If I won the lottery, I would take all my family and friends on a holiday to Florida and get the best hotel to stay in.

8

IF YOU COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY AND INVITE ANY THREE

PEOPLE, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD THEY BE AND WHY? Thierry Henry because he was my idol when I was younger, as he was the best Arsenal player. Arsène Wenger because he has been the Arsenal manager since I was born.

Finally, I would choose Kevin Hart because he is a great comedian and a great actor. I just hope he likes Arsenal!

IS THE CLEANING INDUSTRY SLOWER OR QUICKER THAN

OTHER INDUSTRIES TO ADAPT AND INNOVATE? I am only 17 so I’m not the best person to answer this question. This apprenticeship is my first experience of working life and the cleaning industry. Innovation is an important theme at Facilicom though, so I know the industry is not standing still.
