Everyone wants to be an innovator but taking a chance on new technology can be daunting. GenEon talks us through its new technology that’s set to take Ireland by storm.
We are increasingly drawn to the concept of technology that can bring ease and efficiency to our busy lives. When technology can give us enhanced results and provide a safer environment it should be easy to choose it. However, whether or not to adopt brand new cleaning solutions is not always a straightforward decision. Questions like ‘what are others in my industry doing?’ and ‘does the science back up this new technology?’ always crop up.
These can be tough questions but they are gaining real merit as sustainability remains a strong focus for those who employ and deliver cleaning services. Convention in the cleaning sector says lots of chemicals – some good, some harsh, most dangerous – should be used to do everything from cleaning floors to sanitising the toilet bowl.
Now, there is an emerging technology on course to overhaul the contract cleaner’s toolkit. It is known as Electrochemical Activation (ECA). This process combines the basic elements of salt, water and electricity to deliver a range of solutions to clean, degrease and sanitise and even disinfect the most harmful of germs.
GenEon Technologies has developed a family of devices that produce HypoGen, based on Hypochlorous
10
Acid, which is the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) preferred solution and has been proven to be up to 200 times more effective than bleach. It is also more cost effective and sustainable.
The company’s HypoGen solutions are fully compliant with European standard EN 1276 and achieve levels of cleanliness from food safe (50 to 200 parts per million) to medical grade disinfection (over 1,200 parts per million), which kills norovirus, flu, Legionella and campylobacter. Plus, unlike bleach, HypoGen has low to no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and is not corrosive or harmful to cleaners or building users.
In the US, many educational facilities, including Kennesaw State, Georgia Tech and Georgia State University, use the GenEon MIST with GenEon’s innovative Immerse- A-Clean, Trio Rx and InstaFlow to reduce costs, improve hygiene and lower absenteeism. In fact, GenEon’s customers report savings of 60% off their previous chemical cost and up to 40% off labour when using MIST.
Plus, since the Immerse-A-Clean can be used with any container or scrubber, in any location, it can reduce back injuries to cleaning staff that no longer have to carry heavy water containers.
Sustainability comes in many forms when it comes to managing a building. Since GenEon’s solutions are produced on site and on demand, they significantly reduce carbon emissions through the reduction or elimination of shipping traditional chemicals and the need to properly dispose of containers. Water consumption is also reduced when using GenEon’s devices, which not only benefits the environment but also facilities managers’ budgets.
One happy customer, Fola Teru from Kennesaw State University, commented: “We kept an open mind when we brought this technology to Kennesaw State. GenEon has provided us the same clean results we have always been known for and has enabled us to bring a higher level of sanitisation and worker safety.”
GenEon and ECA are bringing real change to safety, cleaning, sanitising and sustainability. It’s nothing but good news for facilities managers and contract cleaners who are on the lookout for non-toxic and eco-friendly cleaning solutions at an affordable price.
