Editor’s Voice With 2023 now well and truly underway, the cleaning and hygiene industry’s focus


is firmly fixed on the future. With challenging economic circumstances and chronic staff shortages, the progress of the industry’s APPG is going to be vital to reinforce the importance of changing the narrative surrounding cleaning, in the eyes of both government and the general public.


The APPG’s recent report and recommendations are a vital step in ensuring a more serious and robust system is in place, should the country face a health emergency like COVID-19 again in the near future. Another major part of the APPG’s work is to make progress on an Apprenticeship Levy-funded industrywide training programme


and apprenticeship, which will hopefully go a long way towards improving recruitment in the long-term.


In the immediate future, however, the focus is on the upcoming Cleaning Show 2023, which takes place at ExCeL London from 14-16 March. Inside this issue you’ll find a


bumper preview of the show, including details on the extensive conference programme, a list of exhibitors, and information about various activities and event occurring during the three day show.


Also in this issue, we’ve got a feature on Washroom Hygiene, with Stuart Hands from Essity looking at ways of reducing the cost of running and equipping a washroom,
