Modular floorcoverings, including carpet tiles and LVT, are the go-to choice for office and guaranteed best performance and
Carpet tiles continue to be a popular choice for office floorcoverings, offering the ability to create eye-catching designs, provide sound deadening properties and deliver comfort underfoot. They can also be easily and individually replaced if they become worn, damaged or stained.
To enable carpet tile installations to be able to withstand the strenuous demands placed upon them in office environments, and to allow the swift swap out of single or multiple tiles when necessary, carpet tiles should be installed using a compatible carpet tile tackifier, rather than a permanent adhesive. Such products are designed to provide a permanently tacky film to prevent ‘loose-lay’ carpet tiles from moving laterally under normal traffic, whilst allowing individual tiles to be quickly lifted and replaced.
High-performance tackifiers are thoroughly tested to ensure they will hold floorcoverings firmly in place throughout their lifetime when subjected to continual foot traffic and movements of furniture. For example, the castor chair test mimics a person seated in a chair with castor wheels rolling back and forth and moving around, thereby simulating the stresses that an office flooring installation would normally be subject to. This involves a machine with three castors on a
