EVEN BETTER THAN THE REAL THING?
The experts at Flooring Projects look at why luxury vinyl flooring is such a popular choice.
Luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) also referred to as luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) may have been around for decades, but not many people are familiar with the benefits this resilient flooring can provide.
LVF is a relatively easy-to-install practical option for those wanting to achieve the look of timber or stone, but without the maintenance and potential damage that can occur with natural materials.
There are numerous design options and installation choices available that will allow for a wide array of styles and designs to inject personality into any home or commercial space.
Purchasers can achieve an authentic feel of hardwood, stone or ceramic flooring but with a much more hardwearing, water- resistant material. LVF’s genuine appearance means it is an effective substitute for real wood or stone, one that offers greater versatility. Plus, there are innovative designs and aesthetic options popping up all the time from the manufacturers.
The graphic process employed when manufacturing luxury vinyl flooring features non-repeat, high resolution imaging with timber grain or stone-like markings for instance, embossed onto the graphic layer. With an array of colours, grain patterns and styles to choose from, as well how it’s laid –45 degrees, Herringbone style, straight or with edging – there’s plenty of choice and patterns.
HOW IS IT MADE? Most LVF has multiple layers, approximately five or so, which help to keep the floor thin and flexible but also highly durable and waterproof. The top layer is a transparent

protective coating. This layer usually provides the scratch resistance and stain guarding technology you find when using LVF.
WILL IT LAST AND IS IT HARD
TO MAINTAIN? This type of resilient flooring is also high effective in high footfall areas such as hallways and throughout open-plan spaces also. This is because the surface of the flooring will not dent or scratch as easily as some natural wood or stone flooring options, and you won’t get the discolouration you may gain with natural flooring. All it requires to keep it looking fresh and new is a regular sweep to remove any dust or dirt, and an occasional mop to restore its fresh sheen look. So, for small children and pets, it’s ideal as can just be wiped clean.
Given LVF is highly durable, it can be used throughout all home or commercial environments and as it’s also waterproof, it is safe to install in most wet areas, such as bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms where natural products like wood may not be suitable.
HOW DURABLE IS IT? LVF is incredibly flexible, as well as extremely hardwearing and resilient compared to natural materials or roll sheet vinyl.
Many manufacturers offer a guarantee of between five and 15 years with this type of flooring. Flooring Projects for example provide a minimum 20-year warranty on all their standard products with some other of their products holding lifetime warranties. Therefore, once fitted, you
