TARKETT CELEBRATES

‘THE GREAT INDOORS’ Global flooring specialist Tarkett ensured that its London showroom retained its status as one of Clerkenwell Design Week’s must-visit destinations with an action-packed programme that invited festival-goers to experience ‘The Great Indoors’.

Tarkett’s Great Sutton Street showroom, a staple of Clerkenwell Design Week since its conception a decade ago, was a hive of activity throughout the week, culminating in the ever-popular closing party on the evening of Thursday 23 May.

‘The Great Indoors’ concept explores the ways in which design can contribute to improving wellbeing, with a particular focus on the workplace and the increasing shift between a traditional office and a more fluid working environment, or ‘Worklife’.

Visitors to the showroom were able to take part in a range of activities designed to create a sense of excitement and adventure more often associated with the ‘Great Outdoors’, with the aim of bringing this to the interiors market.

MODULYSS WOWS AT

CLERKENWELL The modulyss stand caused a stir at CDW with a stunning installation premiering the soon-to-be-launched Fluid& carpet tile range from floor to ceiling and using mirrors to create a seemingly endless experience.

Also unveiling the 90% recycled content comfortBack backing that delivers sneaker-like underfoot comfort and absorbs wear, modulyss used the design exhibition to tell London’s A&D community about its growing position as one of the carpet tile industry’s innovative, value- driven manufacturers.

“There is no doubt that, in its tenth year, Clerkenwell Design Week is now considered the capital’s best event for commercial interiors and we were delighted to tell the modulyss story to visiting architects and designers,” says Jamie Beighton, sales director, modulyss. “With products such as Fluid&, the newest addition in our coordinated &-collection, it’s easy to see how we’re pioneering great design, but there’s a lot going on beneath the surface

too, with product innovations such as comfortBack and our CO2RE sustainable initiative testament to this.”

Displayed right across modulyss’ Project stand in a striking green colourway, Fluid& is inspired by the organic, free- flowing aesthetic of adding paint to water. Rejecting the need for exacting precision, Fluid& celebrates the flawed with texture that exploits the latest in direct digital print techniques to achieve a sense of water-like movement that’s perfectly imperfect. Upholding the mix and match principle, the design can be coordinated with Velvet& and Fashion& for another layer of creative possibility. Shortlisted for Mixology19, Fluid& is

available in a palette of luscious tones in ochre, green, blue, rust and grey for a bold yet soothing design that has a strong organic feel.

Available as standard in six colourways on First Absolute, DSGN Cloud and DSGN Tweed, comfortBack uses a specially developed 90% recycled content polyester felt that delivers underfoot comfort and that’s also dense enough to absorb footfall time and time again. Providing the long-term durability and strength demanded in today’s busy offices, the backing is a great way to bring sneaker-like comfort to any workspace.

Debates with a panel of leading industry figures including Evelien Reich, Editor of Elle Decor NL, and Hannah Nardini of WK.space, delved deeper into Tarkett’s new report, ‘Rethinking Workplace’, with lively discussions around rethinking stereotypes and the importance of creative design solutions to reflect the increasing blurring of our personal and professional lives.

Festival-goers were also encouraged to take part in events inspired by the concept of ‘Worklife’ and wellbeing,

such as an art therapy workshop with the Director of the London Art Therapy Centre, Hephzibah Raplan, as well inviting guests to try the smoothie bike installation for a healthy refreshment.

“Exhibiting at Clerkenwell Design Week is always a great experience and it was fantastic to see so many people engaged in our events once again,” comments Andrew Sloan, managing

director of Tarkett UK. https://www.thegreatindoors.eu/media/1124/rethinking-workplace-uk-snapshot-the-great-indoors.pdf

“With the average person spending 90% of their time indoors, really understanding how the interior design industry can create healthy, positive environments was something we were keen to explore. Our recent report revealed how important having a fluid and comfortable workspace is to people, both in terms of productivity and wellbeing.
