WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB? Sales Ledger Accounts Clerk, working with the markets to

provide payments to the vendors and collecting the money from the purchasers.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE CLEANING INDUSTRY? By starting A Plush Flush, a luxury mobile toilet company

3 4

WHICH THREE WORDS DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY?

Passionate, reliable and meticulous.

IF YOU COULD VISIT ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHY?

The Caribbean, as I think I would enjoy the food, culture and the sun.

7 8

IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY TOMORROW, HOW WOULD YOU SPEND YOUR FORTUNE?

I would start a Charitable Trust to help others, and invest some money too.

IF YOU COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY AND INVITE ANY PEOPLE, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD THEY

BE AND WHY? Sara Davies, as I admire that she started her own business at a very young age and is now doing Dragon’s Den as well as bringing up a family – she’s an inspiration to all women. Vernon Kay has a passion and understanding of the cleaning industry, as he was once a caretaker and is never afraid to talk about his experiences in that role. Finally, Clive Richards CBE KSG DL, a local man to me who was very influential in Herefordshire Young Farmers, helping us with business plans and life skills. He supported me within my time in Young Farmers and was always available for advice. He was born and educated in Birmingham/Black Country and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Cost and Management Accountant and Chartered Secretary in 1959. Having moved to the City of London in 1960, he spent 50 years becoming a serial entrepreneur, building up 10 PLCs in various industries and subsequently merging/selling them.

More education and accountability.

IF AN INTERN WERE TO START TOMORROW, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE THEM?

I would advise them to always ask questions – no question is silly – in order to build up your knowledge of

what is happening around you, and why. 54 | TOMORROW'S CLEANING

WHAT, DO YOU THINK, IS THE FUTURE OF THE CLEANING INDUSTRY?

I think it is a competitive industry that is growing and will need to continue growing, if – as predicted – further pandemics may happen.

Nik Wyers, Managing Director at The Floorbrite Group, asks: 10

WHAT GETS YOU OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING? WHAT DRIVES YOU?

Our horses are my alarm clock, as if I not up and out by 6.30AM they are kicking at the stable door; but seriously I love what I do and the people I meet, which drives me constantly.
