The window (vertical) cleaning sector has undergone a rapid technological shift in recent years, and Principle Cleaning Services is leading the way. Vertical cleaning is now one of the fastest-growing areas of Principle’s business and the second-largest operation of its kind in the UK.
Innovation sits at the core of Principle’s Vertical Services, driving performance, transparency and safety. From drone window cleaning to real-time, cloud-based platforms, technology is transforming how Principle delivers exceptional results for clients.
In 2024, Principle introduced drone window cleaning – a breakthrough that turned the impossible into reality. For the first time since construction, previously inaccessible areas of buildings across London are now within reach. The technology reduces cleaning time by up to 75%, delivers zero-emission operation and significantly enhances safety, efficiency and sustainability. Client response has been outstanding, leading to the launch of Principle’s dedicated drone cleaning division.
Principle has also pioneered several in-house innovations. Its PCS Hub – a secure, cloud-based platform – provides clients with a real-time, dashboard-style view of their portfolio, empowering quick, informed decision making with full visibility across operations.
Embedded within the platform is proprietary 3D Mapping technology, which monitors performance across multiple sites, down to individual windows. Clients can see exactly when and how windows are cleaned, track standards and instantly log defects.
Principle’s Drop Marking system, used daily by the vertical team to record the duration of each cleaning drop, feeds directly into the 3D Mapping platform. This creates a closed-loop, data-led approach to monitoring progress, managing performance and optimising resources.
In real-time, Principle’s clients can access live reports on project status, compliance, financials and resource utilisation. The result – smarter decisions, measurable value and unprecedented transparency of cleaning schedules, ensuring clients receive the services they pay for.
