Robert Scott is a fourth-generation family business, dating back to 1925. It’s one of the UK’s largest designers, manufacturers, importers and stockists of cleaning products for the professional janitorial market. Brands include P-Wave, Exel, Toucan Eco and Robert Scott Robotics, and it’s the UK’s primary supplier of Ecofibre Compostable Wipes, Pro-mist mop and Duop Cleaning Tool.
The Ecofibre Wipe from Robert Scott is a general purpose non-woven cleaning wipe made from 100% natural compostable fibre, and is designed for eco-cleaning where you want to protect the planet but without it costing the earth.
This means that after use, you simply rinse and dispose of the wipe safe in the knowledge that it will harmlessly biodegrade. You can even dispose of it along with food waste. In composting conditions, after six months the Ecofibre cloth will biodegrade by 90%.
Certified to EN 13432:2000-12 for its compostability, the fibre is from PEFC-certified sources. Sized at 40x32cm, Ecofibre Compostable Wipes come in packs of 10x50. The PLA bag is made from bioplastic and is industrially compostable, while the outer packaging carton is made from FSC recycled sources.
Despite its significant environmental benefits, the Ecofibre Compostable Wipe makes no sacrifices in terms of commercial cleaning effectiveness. Its open weave design makes it easy to rinse, it absorbs up to eight times its own weight in water and is machine washable. It’s also colour coded in four colours – blue, red, green and yellow – for improved hygiene and food contact compliance for use in professional kitchens.
Alastair Scott, Sales Director at Robert Scott, said: “With ever increasing levels of plastic waste polluting our oceans and microplastics entering the food chain, it’s crucial to find sustainable alternatives.
“Our new Ecofibre Compostable Wipe addresses this need by providing a natural fibre cloth that doesn’t compromise on performance or affordability. This is another step towards a more circular economy in the cleaning sector and a greener planet for us all, with disposed of wipes biodegrading into compost, which in turn is used to grow more trees.”
