Northwood Hygiene Products is part of the Northwood Companies. It’s a leading supplier of parent reels into the paper hygiene sector and has grown to become one of today’s leading UK manufacturers in the Away-from-Home professional hygiene and wiping market, with a number of well-known brands including Raphael, North Shore and Whisper.
The Raphael proprietary washroom dispenser and consumables system from Northwood not only helps to deliver superior hand hygiene standards in washrooms, it now offers even stronger environmental benefits.
In 2025, Northwood announced that the range is now being made from recycled resin, a move that further underlined the company’s commitment to develop more sustainable product solutions, enabling its wide customer base to meet their sustainability targets.
Any solid components in Raphael dispensers are now made from 100% recycled material, meaning the white Raphael dispensers are 100% recycled and the smoke and blue dispensers are 50% recycled.
The dispensers are being introduced as a running change and customers will automatically transition to the new generation when placing new orders.
Designed to optimise hygiene in the highest traffic washrooms, the high-capacity Raphael collection delivers cost-in-use, performance and sustainability. The range includes toilet tissue and hand towel dispensers, along with a soap dispenser, all in a variety of colourways.
The roll towel dispensers hold up to 250 sheets each, providing around 500 dries, with some offering stub-roll transfer to ensure zero waste. The hand drying systems dispense one at a time flat sheets to avoid overuse, and the folded towel dispenser has a 1000-sheet capacity. To further reduce overuse, the dispensers do not free roll.
Northwood uses Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper within the Raphael range, as well as offering 100% recycled paper options. All packaging, including plastic, is fully recyclable.
Using foam soap that requires less water for handwashing than liquid soap, Raphael’s soap dispensers deliver a generous shot to encourage single, efficient use.
The Raphael collection is suitable for high footfall washrooms, with the dispensers constructed from durable Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) plastic for scratch and impact resistance. They’re also lockable, keeping paper safely housed whilst preventing misuse.
