Operator’s Club 2017 Competition Changes
This year sees some changes being made to the GB Operator’s Club competition. The competition heats will now take place every alternate year at Hillhead, but the top four finalists, not just the top two, will now be guaranteed a place competing in the European finals every year. More time to practice, more places up for grabs!
More Rewarding for Top Four Finalists We’ve decided to broaden the appeal and rewards for those who reach the first four places in the GB trials rather than just the first two finalists, the reason being that the overall standards achieved by all operators in the competition have been so high. Going forward, those finishing in first and second place at Hillhead will go through to the European finals in the same year that they compete, with those finishing third and fourth guaranteed to compete in the European final, the year after.
Operators Club European Finals We will be attending the 2017 European finals as usual, and will be inviting the two runner’s up from last year’s competition, Ryan Sadler (placed third 2016), and Russell Holden (placed fourth 2016) to compete for the overall European title this year. For this reason, there will be no GB competition at Plantworx this year, with the next GB heats being held at Hillhead in 2018.
The European final will take place in Alicante on Saturday 21 October at the start of the Volvo Ocean Race.
Hillhead the new home of the GB heats Hillhead will become the official home of the Operator’s Club GB trials for the foreseeable future and is the biggest exhibition of its kind in the world, set in the stunning and unique surroundings of a disused limestone quarry. We look forward to seeing operators taking part in the Hillhead heats in 2018 with challenges that will be new, and tougher than ever. It’s the greatest challenge for GB Operators and an opportunity not to be missed.
