SHOW PREVIEW A BOON FOR POWER ENGINEERS ALL ENERGY: T
hose dedicated to engineering a net zero future would be silly not to visit All Energy 2024. The two-
day event will be held at Glasgow’s SEC centre (15-16 May) and claims to be the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference in the world. The co-located Dcarbonise exhibition aims to help people decarbonise the built environment, heat, cities/ places, industry and transport, and registration for both can be done at
www.all-energy.co.uk/ipe. All parts of the event are free
to attend for those with relevant business, governmental, or academic interests. Jonathan Heastie, portfolio director
at Energy & Marine, RX Global, the company that owns and organises the show, said: “All Energy offers a stellar line-up of more than 600 speakers all working towards a single target – net zero.” The 2023 show attracted total
attendance of 9,706 delegates – a 27% increase on 2022 and it is likely to see a further increase this year. The exhibitions will also feature
approximately 270 exhibitors showing renewable energy, storage and other vital renewable solutions. The eight showfloor theatres are devoted to Offshore Wind; Marine
Glasgow’s SEC Centre
Renewables; Community & Local Energy; Hydrogen and Energy Storage; Innovation and Future Talent; and Transport, Heat and Built Environment Decarbonisation. This year’s conference programme
will feature diverse speakers including politicians, industry leaders, working engineers and academic specialists. There is a marked increase in
the number of sessions devoted to grid and networks in line with the recommendations of the 2023 Winser Review; the organisers are also aware that the show runs alongside the build up to the launch (19 March) of National Grid ESO’s publication
Last year 9,706 delegates attended the show
‘Beyond 2030’. Notable conference sessions
include Connections, Connections, Connections looking at the new National Energy System Operator (NESO); and a detailed network design for 2030 offshore wind targets. Elsewhere on the programme is
a session on cyber security and the transmission infrastructure, specifically requested by Ofgem Several ‘free learning areas’ that aim
to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information will include the Hydrogen Hub, the Battery Energy Storage Hub, the Low Carbon Transport Zone, and the Expanded Future Talent Hub. There will also be ample opportunity
to network with events including the giant networking evening and the civic reception on 15th May. Professor Sir Jim McDonald,
Principal and Vice Chancellor of Strathclyde University, an engineer by background and a speaker at the show, said: “This event is surely a boon for all power engineers – an unmissable two days, you must check the online programme. We look forward to seeing you there!”
