Dr Ian Hancox, one of the founding members of TSN says: “Expert technical teams are essential for maximising the potential of cutting-edge research equipment. By financially supporting access to facilities and technical knowledge, we can accelerate and add value to world-class research and allow new partnerships to grow.”

Dr Ian Hancox

Additionally, the International Conference Fund supports RTPs in attending global conferences, facilitating knowledge exchange, and promoting UK technical expertise. Recipients of this funding are required to share their learnings with the broader RTP community upon their return, ensuring that the wider network benefits from their experiences.

A lasting impact on the RTP community

TSN ROKS represents more than a series of initiatives; it is a transformative movement within the RTP community. With a strong foundation in place, the programme is set to expand, further embedding RTP visibility, career development, and peer support within the research landscape.

As TSN ROKS continues to grow, it aims to evolve into a dynamic, demand-driven initiative that adapts to the needs of research technical professionals while keeping pace with the evolving research environment. By providing tailored training, networking opportunities, and career development resources, the project empowers RTPs to make lasting contributions to UK research and innovation.

RTPs are encouraged to engage with TSN ROKS by attending events or applying for funding opportunities. As the programme expands, continued participation will be instrumental in ensuring its long-term impact, supporting technical professionals in their careers, and strengthening the UK’s research and innovation ecosystem.

germinating processes. With rapid heating, swift temperature recovery, and precise temperature control, this premium incubator ensures optimal conditions for cell growth and research.

Its innovative design features electric heating wires surrounding the chamber, ensuring uniform heat distribution. With dry-wall insulation, maintenance is minimised while temperature stability is maximised. A base heater maintains water in a tray for humidity control, while a circulation fan ensures even moisture dispersion. Additionally, front door and frame heaters prevent condensation, maintaining clarity for observation.

Partnering seamlessly with the CO2 incubator, the Celrol Elite roller apparatus offers confi gurations from 5 to 88 bottle positions, facilitating cell attachment

culture. This versatile apparatus accommodates standard plastic bottles, providing scalability and convenience for researchers. The roller culture technique, utilising gentle rotation, enhances gas exchange and promotes cell growth.

For high-demand applications like vaccine production, the Celrol Elite can be expanded with additional layers, accommodating up to 11 tiers of bottles. Wiggens supports this system with options for battery backup, SMS alarm notifi cations, and direct printer connections for streamlined reporting.

With its adaptability to standard cell culture bottles, the Celrol Elite roller apparatus offers a versatile solution for a wide array of biotechnological endeavours. More information online: ilmt.co/PL/zz7Q and ilmt.co/PL/pKbB

New spatial imaging system advances tissue proteomics research

Thermo Fisher Scientifi c has launched the Invitrogen™ EVOS™ S1000 Spatial Imaging System, designed to help researchers generate high-quality multiplexed images while streamlining sample processing.

The EVOS S1000 overcomes key challenges in fl uorescent microscopy by enabling researchers to capture high-resolution images of multiple tissue samples in just hours. Its advanced spectral technology allows simultaneous imaging of up to nine different protein targets, minimising the need for multiple imaging rounds and preserving tissue integrity.

“Understanding tissue structure is essential for advancing treatments for solid tumours and neurodegenerative diseases,” said Trisha Dowling, Vice President and General Manager for fl ow and imaging technologies at Thermo Fisher Scientifi c. “The EVOS S1000 provides a detailed view of tissue microenvironments in their native state, helping researchers accelerate their studies and maximise insights from their samples.”

The system’s compatibility with a wide range of reagents and antibodies ensures seamless integration into existing workfl ows.

“Our lab manages everything from project design to imaging, so delivering high-quality results effi ciently is crucial,” said Carolina Oses Sepúlveda, Researcher and Lab Manager for Spatial Proteomics at SciLifeLab Stockholm. “The EVOS S1000 gives us the fl exibility to use any antibody or reagent - or even work without antibodies - reducing processing time and expanding our research capabilities.”

Now available in the United States and Europe, the EVOS S1000 Spatial Imaging System provides researchers with powerful tools to explore complex biological systems and advance disease research.

New autoclave series with advanced, sustainable features

LTE Scientifi c is excited to announce the upcoming release of its newly redesigned Touchclave-Lab ‘K’ Series autoclaves. Complete with an array of new and innovative features and sustainability focused upgrades, this enhanced range is set to redefi ne laboratory sterilisation solutions. The new Touchclave-Lab ‘K’ Series has been developed with effi ciency, sustainability, and user convenience at its core. Key enhancements include reduced water usage, optimised steam generation, and a sleek, modernised design.

The redesigned series introduces a range of features as standard, ensuring superior performance, improved ergonomics, and enhanced operator safety. Features include automatic pneumatically operated powered doors with emergency stop, 20-program touchscreen control system and Armoured load probe, improving effi ciencies and reducing operator risk. To meet diverse laboratory needs, the new range offers a wider selection of sizes compared to its predecessor, with standard capacities of 150, 225, 300, 360 and 450, additional 640, and 730 litre models will be available late 2025. Furthermore, the range includes pass-through models, ideal for laboratories requiring a separation between clean and dirty environments or requiring controlled workfl ow.

Sustainability has been central to the redesign of these units, embracing a holistic approach that spans the entire manufacturing and operating processes.

The new autoclaves are manufactured entirely on-site at LTE Scientifi c in Oldham, Manchester, using locally sourced components and materials where possible to reduce transport emissions whist supporting the local economy. The optimised design minimises raw material use and wastage while maintaining superior performance. Enhanced features, such as easy-assemble panels, have minimised welding requirements, reducing energy usage and streamlining production, while also making the units easier to service and repair. The stainless-steel build minimises the number of painted panels, consequently reducing chemical and electricity usage. To support customer practices the new autoclaves are constructed to reduce energy and water consumption while maximising operational effi ciency. This eagerly anticipated range refl ects LTE Scientifi c’s dedication to delivering innovative, high-quality solutions that align with the evolving needs of laboratories while supporting their environmental goals.
