8 World’s Smallest Application Specific Spectrometer Utilises Unique Core Sensors Technology

Pyreos announces the release of the world’s smallest spectrometer demonstration vehicle, measuring merely 4.5 cm x 2.5 cm x 1 cm and utilising the company’s pioneering Mid IR sensor technology offering extremely low power array sensors solutions. The spectrometer is a demonstration vehicle to enable application specific focus for consumers and customers alike.

In a time of miniaturisation many technologies cannot achieve the required size nor power consumption restrictions. Today, Pyreos has proven it can do both and ultimately driving the clear value proposition for consumer use with a cost structure that would enable every home to have the basic spectroscopy function available at arm’s length.

Based on Pyreos thin film technology and understanding of the spectroscopy market, Pyreos has aligned itself with a number of key market segment experts to develop a family of products focussed on specific application that will change the dynamics of many industries, including but not limited to personal health, consumer, medical, environmental and industrial.

The first of its kind in the industry, Pyroes expect later this year to release vastly smaller spectrometers with extremely low power consumption targeted at the wearable market which we believe will fundamentally change the meaning of personal health.

Carsten Giebeler, Chief Technical Officer said: “I am extremely pleased at the recent developments here at Pyreos with the release of this demonstration vehicle. I believe we have created something brilliant, something that will change the dynamics in spectroscopy and possibly change the life of many users.”

30347pr@reply-direct.com Latest Compact Top Loading Autoclave

For laboratories limited on floor space but needing to sterilise tall items such as fermentors and large capacity Erlenmeyer flasks, or have a high-density load requirement, the latest version of the Priorclave C60 top loading autoclave could prove to be the perfect choice.

Also, since it is equipped with castors enabling it to be easily moved when required and the fact that it plugs simply into a 13A socket to power-up, the Priorclave C60 top loading autoclave is one of the easiest and fastest to install.

The Priorclave compact C60 autoclave with its 60 litre stainless steel chamber can accommodate easily ten one-litre or sixteen 500ml bottles, alternatively six one-litre Erlenmeyer flasks. This highlights the versatility of an autoclave requiring just 472 x 620mm of floor space.

Through the push-button Tactrol® 2 microprocessor control system users easily programme the sterilising parameters of time and temperature as well as select special features such

as free-steaming and media warming. Free steaming can improve air removal in difficult loads and/or reduce temperature lag between the load and the autoclave, reducing process time at higher temperatures. The media warming feature cycles the temperature between approximately 45o to 55oC once the factory pre-set temperature of 45oC is reached, which continues until the door is opened.

Access to the sterilising chamber is gained through the patented Quickseal single-action door closure/opening mechanism which is designed for one handed operation and incorporates thermal and pressure locks that prevent opening at unsafe temperatures and pressure to prevent personal injury.

Priorclave has incorporated Biomaster Protection into the exterior epoxy coating, a highly effective and permanent treatment for control of harmful bacteria, making any surface cleaner, more hygienic and providing durable lifelong protection against the threat of cross contamination.

This versatile top-loading autoclave range is available as a standard design or as a vacuum model, both versions are electrically heated with the elements contained within the actual chamber for faster and more efficient build-up of high-temperature, pressurised sterilising steam.

30889pr@reply-direct.com New Data Management System Delivers Workflow Innovation for Point of Care

Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has released a major software upgrade for the RAPIDComm Data Management System. Version 5.0 of the informatics solution centrally manages Siemens in vitro diagnostics analysers and operators at the point-of-care (POC). The upgrade encompasses Siemens’ POC Ecosystem™ which aims to improve a POC coordinator’s ability to meet challenges across a number of care components including device management, compliance reporting, remote monitoring and mobile access.

New Cross Hospital, part of The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, is one of the first to implement RAPIDComm V5.0. Lorna Wood, Biomedical Scientist at the hospital stated: “We recently upgraded to V5.0 so our 14 Siemens POC systems benefit from the latest version of RAPIDComm. The platform creates centralised management of our RAPIDSystems and provides us with features to streamline workflow while providing great usability and reliability. The device-workload and material-usage reports are helping us to identify supply consumption which helps greatly with reporting.”

The new Device Workload Reports help customers manage their consumable inventory by identifying the number of patient and quality control (QC) samples processed by their POC devices. Along with this, the new system helps record electronic reviews of patient and QC results and provides the ability to document instrument operator training and assessment information.

The latest version of the RAPIDComm System also includes the RAPIDComm Web Application, which allows POC coordinators to quickly view the status of their POC instruments and troubleshoot issues from a handheld device. It also enables users who manage blood gas analysers to remotely view and control their instruments directly from an iPad, regardless of where they are located.

Additional functionality offered by the upgrade is an interface to the Personalised Education Plan (PEP) Administrator. This lets coordinators create and assign custom internet-based quizzes to instrument operators, which must be successfully completed for training and certification. The RAPIDComm System can also automatically recertify operators and centrally manage and download their IDs and passwords to the appropriate POC testing instruments, ensuring secure access. This feature can help POC coordinators reduce the manual steps involved with the operator certification process.

30756pr@reply-direct.com New Manual Pipettes Deliver Exceptional Results

Rainin’s New Pipet-lite XLS+ manual pipettes from Anachem combine cutting-edge technology and innovation to deliver exceptionally high performance with extraordinary comfort and control. These new pipettes feature state-of-the-art wet seals for stunningly smooth operation, corrosion-resistant tip ejectors and liquid ends that can be autoclaved.

A redesigned liquid end provides a plunger stroke that is smooth, precise and requires less force than ever. Its perfect for pipetting applications that require delicate control; so if you need to dispense your samples slowly, with the Pipet-Lite XLS+ there is no jumping or jerking reducing the risk of air bubbles forming in your samples and limiting the chances of pipette cross contamination issues. The complete liquid end - shaft, seal assembly/spring, and ejector - can be autoclaved for easy sterilisation without compromising the performance or the feel of the pipette.

The new corrosion-resistant plastic tip ejector is made of a high PVDF polymer making it corrosion free, autoclavable and highly resistant to chemical and physical damage. It can be simply removed with a single-hand motion for easy cleaning.

The Pipet-Lite XLS+ ergonomic handles contoured finger-hook lets you use a lighter grip when pipetting or resting between cycles. A soft silicone shock absorber in the tip ejection mechanism reduces thumb impact on tip ejection. You can choose from standard Pipet-Lite XLS+ models with a universal tip fit that will work with most of the tips you already have in your laboratory. Or, for extra protection against RSI opt for LTS™ (Lite Touch Tip Ejection System) models for further reduction in tip ejection forces.

All Rainin XLS+ pipettes equipped with RFID tags for enhanced security, state-of-the-art inventory control and calibration tracking.

To find out more about the new XLS+ pipette family including the new E4 XLS+ electronic pipettes and XLS+ multichannel pipettes go to www.anachem.co.uk or email response@anachem.co.uk to book a hands on demo in your lab.
