Laboratory Products 7 New HPLC and UHPLC Columns Catalogue now Available
Advanced Chromatography Technologies Ltd have published a new HPLC and UHPLC Columns Catalogue. The new catalogue contains details of the full ACE and ACE Excel column ranges, which offer full scalability from 2µm UHPLC columns, through to 3, 5, 10 and 15µm HPLC columns.
Ten selectivities are available, including the uniquely engineered ACE C18-AR and ACE C18-PFP ‘Extra Resolving Power’ phases. These two unique phases offer multiple mechanisms of separation and have been specifically developed to provide alternative selectivity to C18 phases but still provide ‘C18’ column stability and robustness. ACE columns are also available with C18, C8, C4, CN, AQ, Phenyl, C18-HL and Silica phases. Columns are available in lengths of 20mm to 300mm and i.d.s from 75µm to 30.0mm. Additionally, 5 different ultra inert 300Å phases are available for peptide and small protein separations.

ADVERTORIAL Total Nitrosamines Analysis System
In certain production processes such as those in cosmetics or agricultural pesticides industries, it is important to analyse for the presence of Nitrosamines, but it is not all ways essential to know the exact profile of the nitrosamine species.
The Ellutia Chemical Stripping System has been developed to be used in unison with an 800 Series TEA to perform total nitrosamine analysis. Instead of using a pyrolyser to heat the nitrosamine to remove the NO group, a chemical reaction can be employed. The alleviation of NO from the nitrosamine is performed by a reflux reaction with hydrobromic acid in ethyl acetate. The nitrosamine sample is injected into the reaction vessel and produces NO, a secondary amine and bromine. The NO is then carried in a gas stream through a cold trap (removing any vapour) to the TEA

New 2013 800 Series TEA
New 2013 Spec 800 Series TEA The TEA (Thermal Energy Analyser) has been an industry
standard for explosives and nitrosamine analysis since its introduction thanks to its incredible sensitivity and almost infinite selectivity for nitrogen containing compounds. Ellutia have updated the 800 Series TEA for 2013. A number of improvements have been implemented to further improve the class leading detection limits.
Newly designed internal plumbing allows for greater sample flow rates whilst maintaining a high vacuum. This dramatically improves the performance of the instrument with high flow rate applications such the use of packed, wide bore columns, or with a glassware chemical stripping system. New selectable time constant filters allow the user to tune the TEA depending upon their peak width, to improve sensitivity by reducing the signal to noise ratio.
These improvements mean that all 800 Series TEAs now achieve a detection limit of at least 800 femtograms of Nitrogen per second on the factory acceptance test of NDMA.
All 800 Series TEAs now ship with this new specification as standard, but users of older 800 Series TEAs do not have to go with out. Older model 800 Series TEA’s can be updated to the latest 2013 specification by Ellutia.
