Spotlight Pumps, Valves & Liquid Handling Outperforming Pumps
Lambda has developed peristaltic pumps (PRECIFLOW series), which combine exceptional properties with very compact size. A specially developed tubing compression system, placed in an asymmetrical pump head of large diameter, handles the tubing with great care.
This offers advantages in flow rate regularity and provides long lifetime for the tubing. Since it also works well with low cost silicone tubing, the pump finally saves more money than it initially costs.
Visualisation of the pump activity in controlled systems like bioreactors by means of an incorporated integrator brings an excellent new possibility to follow culture growth and other process parameters. Lambda pumps are real workhorses, otherwise they could never give a five years warranty.

Partnership in Pumps Specialist pumping solutions supplier Verder, is pleased to announce that following extensive trials at Shin Etsu’s Livingston manufacturing facility in Scotland, the world leaders in Silicon wafer manufacture has selected the new Verder Dura 25 peristaltic pump. The Dura pump provides a 100% increase in hose life expectancy against Shin Etsu’s previous solution and enables it to realise a return on investment within just a year of the pump’s installation.
“The pumps are handling a highly aggressive Silicon Carbide slurry which forms a key part of Shin Etsu’s manufacturing process,” explained Craig Bolling, Verder’s Regional Sales Engineer for Scotland. “Working with the client Verder was able to deliver a solution that will enable Shin Etsu to continue competing in an increasingly competitive market place.”
Robert Fraser, Plant Service Engineering Senior Supervisor of Shin Etsu commented: “Shin Etsu decided to switch to Verder for its pumping solutions because our previous system included diaphragm pumps which are harder to maintain. Verder offered us a solution that was much easier to maintain and provided a good return on investment.”
“By working closely with our customers we endeavour to bring technologically advanced solutions to our customers to allow them to minimise whole lifetime cycle costs of the pump,” concluded Craig. “That’s why we developed the Verder Dura pump, the biggest step forward in peristaltic pumping – to deliver outstanding performance and provide its owners with unparalleled reliability.”

Improve your Containment The Buck®
The Buck®
MC Valve by GEA Pharma Systems uses only passive valves (with no drive units) so is entirely compatible with the valves fitted to most IBCs. Until now it has been necessary to use split valve technology to discharge product from an IBC safely. This works well when discharging to the process line however, if ingredients are to be transferred from one IBC to another, or from an IBC to a double cone dryer for example, it has always been necessary to use an active-to- active unit in between as an interface. This is no longer necessary with the Buck®
MC Valve. MC Valve is a simple method of transferring bulk chemicals that eliminates the need for a vacuum between the discs. It has very few moving parts,
needs no lubrication and the product-touching parts can be released quickly by hand with a simple tool. Reducing the number of moving parts and standardising the components has allowed Buck®
to reduce the cost of the Buck® MC Valve compared with competitive products. A new MC passive valve can be disassembled without the need of any tools making it very easy to take apart for cleaning. The Hicoflex® is the world’s first flexible
coupling that allows highly sensitive or toxic powders that would traditionally have been fed from rigid IBCs, to be fed directly from FIBCs, sacks and Big Bags. This allows manufacturers to consider supplying these materials in flexible transport containers to help keep costs under control.
The Hicoflex® SL is a self-locking version that operates using a split coupling principle, similar to the Buck®

Setting The New Standard in Pipetting
Everyday, pipettes are confronted with multiple tasks that must be exact and precise. Reliability is key in the laboratory and your pipette must be trusted to perform well, day in, day out. ErgoOne, the new pipette from Starlab, offers accuracy and precision you can trust, with a stylish new look you will love.
Starlab is setting a new standard in pipetting by taking the long- trusted features of the Gilson pipette and bringing it up to date. ErgoOne is a light-weight pipette with minimal operating forces ensuring comfortable pipetting and reduced hand fatigue.
Made from the highest quality materials, ErgoOne is a robust pipette tested under real laboratory conditions. The wear- resistant piston means regreasing is not required under normal working conditions. Available in single-, 8-, or 12- channels, ErgoOne is fully autoclavable and comes with a three-year warranty.
Starlab thinks they’ve made some significant improvements on the pipetting standard and challenges you to ‘Dare to Compare!’ ErgoOne, with the Gilson. What have you got to lose? Contact Starlab to arrange a free evaluation.
