10 Intelligent Timing Makes the Difference
With its latest version of the scheduling software CyBio launches an essentially revised control of their automation platform in the laboratory. Thus, a wide range of different automation tasks can be served, from the automation of single application flows and laboratory instruments up to independent and fully automated supervisions of complex laboratory systems.
An easy to handle operation editor with drag-and-drop support makes the compilation of complex workflows easier than before. The microplate-orientated display of the workflow allows an outstanding clear arrangement.
In cooperation with famous scientific institutions CyBio developed an optimisation procedure, which provides highest efficiency during the implementation and guarantees an excellent time stability. Particular time optimisation procedures reduce the impact of
temperature variations, crystallization, and precipitation effects while the assays are executed. The Plate Tracking module of the CyBio®
Scheduler software includes a very effective data management, where all essential data for the
implementation of a process are monitored. This comprises not only the administration of the performed task list but also the preparation of every microplate-specific information like barcodes, volume, and storage locations.

Meeting the Needs of Low Volume Chemistry Laboratories
The ELITech Group announced the availability of two new bench-top chemistry analysers, first in the new ELITech Clinical Systems product line designed to better serve the needs of low volume chemistry laboratories.
Together with a dedicated range of ready-to-use reagents specific to ELITech Clinical Systems, the Selectra ProXS provides a fully integrated chemistry solution for smaller or satellite laboratory locations. The Flexor EL80 extends to these laboratories the proven benefits of the successful Flexor family for open chemistry use.
Virtual Lab Tour
Eppendorf Virtual Labs is a completely new and interactive way to explore products and applications from Eppendorf. Each Virtual Lab features online emulation of complete workstations for micromanipulation, automated pipetting and real-time PCR. Audiovisual guided tours of Eppendorf equipment in lab settings enable customers to visualise how the equipment would look in their own lab, and help them select the optimal equipment for specific applications.
Virtual Labs can be easily accessed at
www.eppendorf.com/virtuallab, and currently features eight different lab tours: Mastercycler pro system for fast PCR, automated pipetting with epMotion, and six different micromanipulation and microinjection applications, such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection and embryonic stem cell transfer.
Virtual Labs introduces Eppendorf’s newly animated mascot, ‘Captain Eppi’, who acts as your personal guide to each lab tour. If you prefer to explore on your own, Captain Eppi can be sent off to help other users of the Virtual Labs.
In each lab tour, users can zoom in on the instruments in a lab setup and explore product information and application-specific features. A library of additional media content includes video clips of equipment in action and downloadable protocols and application notes.
Eppendorf Virtual Labs provides easily accessible descriptive information about Eppendorf equipment, service and support, so that customers can select the best combination of products for their own applications. Expert advice is also available via a dedicated email response link.

Small but Powerful Thermoregulator
Micro-Ultracentrifuges for Outstanding Versatility
Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc has introduced two new Thermo Scientific Sorvall Micro- ultracentrifuge models, each delivering improved versatility in rapid, small volume processing of samples including viruses, cellular organelles, lipoproteins, nucleic acids and nanoparticles. Both new micro-ultracentrifuge models offer an expanded volume range, accommodating tubes from 0.2ml to 30ml. These systems use a cutting-edge drive system, providing maintenance-free performance and rotor imbalance protection to ensure years of reliable and dependable performance.
The Sorvall MTX 150 is up to 20% smaller than other benchtop models in its class and puts almost any separation within reach with a centrifugal force in excess of 1,048,000 x g. Its sleek
design and quiet operation (45dBA) offer a comfortable working environment. Productivity is maximised with its best-in-class acceleration, achieving its maximum rotational speed of 150,000rpm in just 80 seconds. A state-of-the-art, user-friendly LCD touch- screen interface simplifies operation while providing a range of operating features.
The new Sorvall MX series offers the same versatility as the Sorvall MTX 150 in the most- compact floor model configuration currently on the market. Available in two versions with maximum speeds of 150,000rpm or 120,000rpm, its small footprint of 2.3 ft2 in combination with minimal noise (below 48 dBA) enables convenient in-lab location.

Huber UK have announced the launch of the new Petite Fleur or baby Tango, a new entry level Unistat thermoregulator for applications in the mid-range - 40˚C to 200˚C. The baby Tango is 2/3 the size, 2/3 the power and 2/3 the cost of the classic Unistat Tango.
As with the larger Unistat models the Petite Fleur features all the benefits in performance and safety of a hydraulically sealed system. The CC Pilot Professional
Controller and display provides the unit with full functionality. The powerful variable speed pump combined with variable pressure control and mircoprocessor technology ensures the best possible results and at just 26cm wide the baby Tango is ideally suited to fit in any fumehood. The castors fitted at the back also allow the compact unit to be easily maneuvered into the required position.
Two-in-one Meter Offer
Mettler Toledo is giving readers the chance to upgrade their pH meter to a dual channel instrument for free. Simply buy a meter from the SevenMulti S40 range and receive a conductivity expansion unit at no extra cost – allowing the measurement of two electro-chemical parameters simultaneously.
Versatile and accurate, the S40 is the perfect choice for applications where outstanding measurement accuracy is required. Built-in functions such as pin-code protection, calibration reminder and standardised methods offer maximum security and regulatory compliance.
The large, backlit display and easy-to-use function keys make operation simple, while RS232 and USB interfaces enable the S40 to be integrated into LIMS.

The Petite Fleur is ideal for applications where regular vessel changes can often lead to residue water in hoses and reactors mixing with the thermofluid, thereby inhibiting heat transfer. To overcome this, the Petite Fleur features a unique water separation system, which allows water to be removed from the thermofluid during heat/cooling cycles.
As with all thermoregulators, the DIN 12876 standard requires that cooling powers are measured at full pump speed, however development at Huber has shown that reducing the pump speed reduces the heat energy entering the system, which in turn leads to higher cooling powers and lower end temperatures. The Petite Fleur also has an unusually powerful pump so reducing the pump speed can make additional cooling power available – in some cases an extra 30 to 50 watts can be achieved.
