Spotlight Ovens, Incubators & Sterilising Equipment Multi-Gas Incubator offers Exceptional Control and an Industry-First Decontamination system
Sanyo’s MCO-19M multi-gas incubator provides extremely accurate control of O2 and CO2 levels combined with precisely regulated temperature. By achieving a stable, uniform culturing environment the new incubator ensures ideal growth conditions and excellent reproducibility of experimental results. The MCO-19M also introduces the option of a unique Hydrogen Peroxide decontamination system, which, for the first time, enables full decontamination and incubator cleaning to be completed in less than a morning. All in all, the MCO-19M is an ideal tool for even the most highly regulated or sensitive applications.
Incorporating Sanyo’s proprietary single-beam, dual detector infrared CO2 sensor, the MCO-19M incubator delivers precise CO2 control and continuous zero calibration. The solid state CO2 sensor is not affected by humidity or temperature changes and has no moving parts, so reliability is improved. O2 is measured using a solid state zirconium sensor. Sub-ambient O2 levels can be maintained from 1% to 18% and enriched levels from 22% to 80%, simultaneously with a CO2 range from 0% to 20%. This gives the MCO-19M great flexibility for use in a wide range of cell culture applications. A sophisticated PID microprocessor provides accurate
control of CO2 and O2 levels, ensuring rapid recovery without overshoot after frequent door openings making it suitable for even the busiest laboratories.
The MCO-19M incubator utilises Sanyo’s patented Direct Heat and Air Jacket conditioning system. With multiple heating zones under microprocessor control, the temperature throughout the chamber is precisely regulated. Users can therefore rely on getting the same results from every shelf. Contamination prevention is another area where this new multi-gas incubator excels. The InCu saFe®
copper-enriched stainless steel interior continuously inhibits
growth of moulds, fungi, mycoplasma and bacteria. With the optional patented SafeCell™ UV system, airborne and water contaminants are eliminated without harming cell cultures.
The unique Sanyo Hydrogen Peroxide decontamination system option is fully verified, making it suitable for use in all laboratories, especially those operating to
GMP/GLP. With no need to remove or replace, then reinstate critical incubator components, this high-speed vaporised H2O2 process takes less than three hours including the initial cleaning – an industry first.

New Atmosphere System
Microgen Bioproducts is releasing a new system for preparing defined atmospheres (anaerobic, micro-aerophilic and CO2), for the incubation and storage of bacteriological cultures, without the need for anaerobic jars and expensive catalysers, large expensive anaerobic cabinets and dedicated CO2 incubators.
The MAS (Microgen Atmosphere System) creates defined atmospheres in special application bags, which can then be incubated or stored under normal aerobic conditions. The incubation of the application bags in standard aerobic incubators provides savings in the space required for the incubation of bulky anaerobic jars and significant savings in laboratory space when compared to dedicated anaerobic cabinets. MAS instantaneously achieves the defined atmosphere within the application bags only consuming sufficient gas to fill the bag, whilst improving isolation rates and colony size.
The savings on gas consumption and incubator space are complemented by the ease-of-use offered by the LCD programme panel, low maintenance and the extensive application list, to create a unique, cost-effective and flexible atmosphere generation.

Heating and Drying Benchtop Ovens Available Globally
Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc announced that its new Thermo Scientific Heratherm heating and drying ovens are now available in 230V for the global market. The ovens are available in three different models: General Protocol, Advanced Protocol and Advanced Protocol Security.
Each unit is available in 60-, 100- and 180-litre sizes with a choice of gravity or mechanical convection.
New Range of Ovens now Available in the UK
Townson and Mercer are pleased to announce that they have been chosen as the UK exclusive distributor for the range of products manufactured by France-Etuves.
The range includes incubators, laboratory ovens, glassware drying ovens, high temperature ovens, industrial ovens and vacuum ovens.
The laboratory ovens and incubators have chamber size ranging from 27 litres to 980 litres, the vacuum ovens come in four sizes 20, 50, 120 and 240 litres with options of temperatures to 300/400 DEGC.

With a focus on energy efficiency, sample safety and ease– of- use, these benchtop heating and drying ovens maximise capacity while optimising laboratory footprint. Special insulation and a heat-decoupled door reduce energy consumption and minimise heat transfer to the environment.
All models include an easy-to-use user interface, automatic over temperature alarm and data interface. As a result, these ovens meet all laboratory, clinical and industrial heating and drying needs.
General Protocol ovens are ideal for everyday heating and drying applications, operating up to 250°C with outstanding temperature stability. A timer function enables unit operation at defined times to optimise workflow.
Heratherm®
Where greater flexibility or temperature accuracy is required, the Heratherm Advanced Protocol ovens operate as high as 330°C, while providing superior temperature uniformity.
Quick and Easy Sterilisation
Harvard Apparatus has introduced a Hot Glass Bead Dry Steriliser for decontaminating microsurgical instruments used in small animal surgery.
Fast and easy to use, this compact steriliser eliminates the need for messy chemicals or open flame in the lab. Dry glass beads heated to 500ºF (260°C) will sterilise surgical instruments within 15 minutes. This product is a must for any laboratory doing small animal surgery.

An extended timer function offers the choice of weekly, real- time or hour-driven settings for advanced flexibility.
The program function can store up to 10 pre-defined cycles making it easy to undertake processes involving complex temperature ramping and holding steps.
Fan speed and damper position can be controlled electronically to facilitate optimal heating, while the unique boost function allows rapid heating and reduces long-term energy consumption.
The Heratherm Advanced Protocol Security ovens incorporate an additional under temperature alarm, as well as a lockable door with an alarm, making them ideal for working with precious samples and long-term processes.
