12 Air Monitoring Highly advanced air quality sensors make history at AIRLAB 2023

At the latest AIRLAB Microsensors Challenge, organised by AIRPARIF, Kunak’s revolutionary technology won the award as the most accurate sensors on the market. Kunak AIR Pro (for the second edition in a row) and Kunak AIR Lite (fi rst edition to participate) have been awarded the most accurate multi-pollutant sensors for France and Thailand.

The Airlab Challenge, organised by AIRPARIF, aims to assess and compare microsensors independently and provide users with information about the product’s suitability and potential applications. The challenge takes into account various criteria, such as accuracy, utility, usability, form factor, costs, etc. The challenge guarantees fair assessment by testing all devices under the same conditions and timeframes. However, because the IPI index is logarithmic, performance differences become more noticeable with higher values, leading to overall high scores for all results.

This award is further proof that Kunak technology is suitable for all environmental conditions showing the highest data quality in both locations. Kunak was declared the leader in terms of accuracy in all measured parameters, with a clear difference compared to all other competitors. One should note the initial results needed to be reevaluated because of some signifi cant errors in the fi rst analysis of the instrumentation data, which resulted in an inaccurate appraisal of the Kunak device.

Once these miscalculations were corrected, Kunak’s product range was recognised for its unparalleled accuracy. Kunak has reasserted its good data quality and performance, being the only multi-pollutant sensor manufacturer that has improved its results since Airlab Challenge 2021 Edition. The AIR Pro and AIR Lite O3 sensors were awarded as the best in France and Thailand, and the PM2.5

sensor for indoor.

Edurne Ibarrola, PhD, Chief Scientifi c Offi cer (CSO) of Kunak said, “Winning the award for the second year in a row for the most accurate multi-pollutant sensor is a testament to all the R&D efforts we have made in recent years, solving all the limitations of air quality sensors, in real time, and without the need for external data. At Kunak, we are committed to offering the best product on the market, and this award is proof that we are on the right track.”
