Businesses can evidence carbon neutrality and improved employee welfare thanks to the fast and highly accurate PID
Whilst China and other governments around the world commit to a green economy by 2030, companies are starting to turn to employee health and safety monitoring to learn and evidence improvements in carbon emissions.
Thanks to Cub’s patented photoionisation detection (PID) of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), UK based gas detection manufacturing experts Ion Science, is helping employers signifi cantly reduce the daily exposure risks faced by occupational hygienists and technicians operating in the chemical or petrochemical industries.
The class-leading personal and portable detection and exposure instrument is extremely fast, lightweight, and unobtrusive. It accurately measures personal VOC exposure in real-time and features intuitive audio, visual and vibration personal alarms, which notify the user when safe workplace exposure levels are about to be exceeded, all within 13 seconds.
ATEX and IECEx certifi ed as standard, the device stores and handles data quickly and effi ciently. Cub has an extremely wide gas detection range of 0 to 5,000ppm and has unrivalled sensitivity down to ppb levels. It can measure up to 480 selectable compounds and features anti-contamination and humidity resistance for extended fi eld operation. 12-hour battery life also ensures that the device can operate for the full duration of a worker’s shift. A large LCD screen provides occupational hygienists and technicians with clear and accurate readings that can be understood whatever the diffi cult climatic conditions being faced. Cub is also easy to service and features a two-year warranty when the device is registered online.
The specialist technology employed in the Cub is now being requested by other detection manufacturers around the world, which is a huge complement to the outstanding quality, accuracy and trust in the PID sensor manufactured specifi cally by Ion Science.
Safe operations in the energy sector are now more critical than ever before. Companies must meet ever-increasing global demand and ensure costs are low, while considering the increasing environmental factors. This all means increased pressures and demands on staff working times, particularly occupational hygienists and technicians. Across global downstream gas operations, Ion Science products are designed and proven to help keep employees safe and ensure that companies meet the legislative requirements set out by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
Regulation 7 of the COSHH Regulations 19991,2 lays down the requirements for using maximum exposure limits (MELs) and occupational exposure standards (OESs) for achieving adequate control of worker exposure. ION Science’s Cub PID ensures that regulation is adhered to. However, Cub is recommended to be used alongside a single gas detector (ARA) toxic alarm and exposure alarm for more signifi cant employee safety coverage.

Pall achieves this with higher fl ow rates (up to 245 ml/min) and greater sample throughput capacity (up to 150ml) reducing time and effort required to fi lter a wide array of sample volumes.
Pall’s HPLC, UPLC, LCMS and IC certifi ed Acrodisc syringe fi lters effi ciently remove particulate contamination from samples, protecting instruments and preventing costly system maintenance and premature column replacement extending column life up to 52 times.
Benefi ts include: accurate pore size ratings for better chromatography, and instrument and column protection; uniform membrane materials (lot-to-lot) for consistent analytical results; HPLC, UPLC, LCMS and IC certifi ed low extractable materials for less chromatographic interference; materials of construction selected specifi cally for analytical analysis with lower extractables and lower API adsorption.

General purpose viscosity reference standards
Paragon Scientifi c offer viscosity reference standards that are certifi ed in strict accordance with ASTM D2162, the primary method for viscosity standards manufacture. Dual certifi ed to the International Standards BS EN ISO / IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 under our UKAS accrediatation. Paragon test at primary level using master viscometers in accordance with ASTM D2162 to ensure the lowest uncertainty of measurement thus providing standards that are certifi ed with primary level accuracy. ASTM D2162 is the only referenced method for the certifi cation of viscosity standards when adopting ASTM test method protocol.
Paragon’s standards are certifi ed according to ISO 17025 / ISO 17034 under their UKAS accreditation and certifi ed in strict accordance with ASTM D2162. The density is g/mL in accordance with ASTM D1480 and these are fully traceable to national standards. These standards are for use with glass capillary viscometers, automatic viscometers and other viscosity measuring equipment. The standard temper evident security packaging size is 500mL,but it is also available in 5L packs – and other sizes are available on request. Kinematic (cSt) and dynamic viscosity (mPa?s) given at all temperatures.
