Message from the PEFTEC Conference Chairman

Anupam Giriv- SABIC Lead Scientist

PEFTEC is back with a virtual 2-days event on 24th and 25th of November 2021. Registration to PEFTEC is Free for all attendees, your attendee pass will give you free access to all conference presentations “Live” on the 24th & 25thNovember and then on Demand for you to play back and reference at your leisure. The program includes keynote lectures, presentations and panel discussion by renowned professors, scientists and industrial technologists from around the globe. Topics covers emerging industrial/instrumental innovations and developments in the field of laboratory and process analysis within the Petroleum, Petrochemical, Chemical and Refining Industries. This year particular emphasis are given to “Analytics and Processes towards – Recycling and Renewables”. The Conference will cover broad aspects of Analytical Challenges in Petroleomics covering Separation Science, Spectroscopy, Thermal & Elemental Analysis; Innovative and high-throughput processes for recycling and so on.

In addition, a short-course on GC×GC will be conducted to introduce this powerful separation tool to the beginners, highlighting the fundamentals as well as applications on exploring the petro-chemistry. The program will allow Industry-Institute-Individuals- Interaction in this field and to learn the latest updates on the developments and future needs from each other. Students, academic researchers, industrial technologists and process developers will be highly benefitted from this conference in understanding the current status and in re-defining the scope of Analytics in near future in the field of Petroleomics. Your free registration will allow you to network with fellow attendees, speakers and exhibitors.

communication capabilities brings renown sample gas cooler into the digital age

Instrumentation technicians analysing environmental parameters or for process safety and optimisation rely on robust and dependable communication between the field devices (such as the sensors and analysers) and the control system to keep their operation running smoothly.

Until now, the TC-MINI sample gas cooler, from Buehler, has operated with the globally recognised 4-20 mA analogue protocol of communication, as well as potential-free status output. However, this sample gas cooler now features the Modbus RTU communication protocol to cater for the rapid digitalisation of industry. The system is connected through an RS485, 2-wire interface, giving the operator access to process and diagnostic data and the capability to control the devices’ configuration through the Modbus RTU protocol. The new sample gas cooler also allows access to operation hour outputs and controller utilisation.

The TC-MINI sample gas cooler is ideal for deployment in the most portable or compact gas conditioning systems thanks to its small size. This unit may not be big in size but it has high nominal power and is perfect for use in warm climates.

The TC-MINI’s new digital communication and functions enables direct access to process and diagnostic data and operators can easily set or reset parameters during operation. The current cooling block temperature can be read out easily while operators can configure menus settings remotely – for example cooling block set-point and activating or deactivating the gas pumps. Users can now monitor output of controller utilisation, as a percentage, to evaluate performance in cooler conditions as well as the operating hour outputs to ensure the least disruption from maintenance intervals.

This additional new digital option only adds 35 Euros to the cost of the sample gas cooler – a small price for efficient digitalisation and the extra capabilities it has to offer.

The option “Digital output Modbus RTU” is now available for the sample gas coolers TC-MINI with a surcharge to the device of only 35,00 €. The ordering information and other useful information can be found on the product page and in the data sheet.

greenhouse gases.

The analyzer is adaptable to your actual and future requirements and can be upgraded from one single parameter to the full gas configuration without hardware at customer site. It is particularly suitable for sites needing to comply with emissions reporting requirements issued by the European directive 2010/75/EU related to Large Combustion Plants.

Extremely compact 19’’- 3U analyser, the MIR 9000e guarantees easy turnkey integration and smart operations including AMS control functionalities: integrated sampling control, automatic zero and span gas injection, external pump control, system alarms display, etc. Compatible with any type of drying technology (gas cooler, permeation, dilution...) it is versatile and is suitable even for upgrades and seamless retrofit of existing gas cabinets on the market. The gas monitor utilises the most recent optical and electronic technologies offering increased precision and robustness, while requiring only limited maintenance and ultra low power consumption. Thanks to its breakthrough mechanical design for weight and power saving as well as its exclusive “inside the box” modular concept, the monitor is insensitive to T° variations in the range +5° to +40°C (no air conditioning required).

In-depth warning signal capabilities to be displayed at ADIPEC

E2S Warning Signals design and manufacture alarm horn sounders, Xenon strobe and LED warning beacons and combined signalling units; wide area sounders for site protection and civil emergency warning; PA loudspeakers; break glass and push button manual call points; application-specific status assemblies and junction boxes. Stand 8620 at ADIPEC will feature examples from its extensive product ranges for installation in hazardous area, marine and industrial environments.

E2S audible and visual signals employ a common sound or light engine housed in 316L stainless steel, robust GRP or corrosion proof, marine grade copper free LM6 aluminium enclosures, giving specifiers an unrivalled choice of housing materials to best suit the intended application. All devices feature highly efficient circuits that offer low inrush and running current consumption. Alarm horn sounders have outputs up to 125 dB(A) and beacons with over 1,250 effective Candela. Beacons are available with both Xenon tubes for ultra-bright flash requirements and LED arrays with five flash rates and two steady modes. All products feature multiple third-party approvals from the world’s leading international and regional authorities.

E2S is the only warning signal manufacturer able to offer a complete range of alarm horn sounders, Xenon strobe beacons and manual call points with SIL2 compliance to IEC 61508 in three different housing materials. This unique capability gives system integrators the ability to choose the best device to meet the application’s environmental requirements and gives them greater confidence when specifying a complete signalling and activation package for critical life safety systems requiring an enhanced safety integrity level.

Also on show will be examples of the company’s factory- configured alarm bars and status lights that reduce procurement and installation costs in gas detection and process control applications where the indication and warning of multiple conditions is required.
